The range runes in spacial dungeons (and I assume the ones in castles) can actually lower the range on certain weapons. I assume this is because rather than adding + range it just sets it to 6. Here an example

First is without standing on the rune. Using a seed sniper and the marksman talent for range. Total of 9 range.

Here is me on the rune. Total of 6 range

This more looks like the range runes set your attack range to 6, rather than adding to your attack range by 5. Which, I don't particularly mind, but it kind of makes no sense with a gun with superior range...
Could we also allow dagger dance to work on them?
Range runes overwrite your attack range, yes. No, dagger dance won't be changed to work with them.
