El Busterino - Fern - 10-13-2015

Buster Cannon is a cool idea for Arbalests, sure, but almost completely slaughtering a character's defense in 4M (with 8 possible range) has proven to be somewhat ridiculous. The class is already able to ignore 10 defense too, so...

I suggest giving its defense reduction a lower cap. From 100% to 60%.

I can agree with this, Buster Cannon is a pretty brutal skill against tanks. Though, perhaps it should be knocked down to a 3 Rank skill since Rank 3 gives 60% Defense Reduction anyway.

Buster Cannon is only brutally effective against DEF-based tanks. It's a relatively small penalty on Evaders/Glass Cannons (if the 'ignore 10 DEF' doesn't already blow off what little defense they have), while having little bearing on DR-based tanks. BKs (see: phys tank class) hold an easy counter to the effect, so DEF-reliant builds are far from helpless when Buster Cannon strikes.

That being said, Buster Cannon's fine as it stands. I also don't particularly see why everyone in general should be given leeway on this, given that they still have Damage Resistance/Damage Reduction/Armor Stats/Etc. (Or Know No Pain, where Demon Hunters are concerned)

Buster cannon is pretty ridic imo, Chaos' argument could be said for guns as well, however bows are not guns, bows scale 100% off STR and not 50% off SKI, giving it astronomical damage potential, also Bows with keyshot have some pretty ridiculous crit rates when done right, I'd agree with the OP on this one.

Yup, agreed.

I'd probably lower it to 15% defense reduction per rank, so it caps out at 60%.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say with this. Guns have the biggest damage potential in the game, and their Criticals are both juicy and a potential OTK (in the case of multishots). The big 'damage dealer' with Buster Cannon is actually Mad Chop, and even that is easily susceptible to at least a couple things.

I'll note that after buster cannon, you are not able to use any cannon skills. So that's quite a weakness.
That said, I still support the proposed change to a cap of 60%, but suggest increasing duration by +1 on max rank.

Guns have more answers in the form of Blade Barrier/Bellplate/Fang Faced Shield, which makes them just as much (if not more) of a threat to the attacker.

You can pretty much use Reload Accel right after using Buster Cannon, but yeah. I like the idea of raising its duration in order to compensate for the reduction change.

The cannon + mad chop combo's only decent counter is Know No Pain + torso defense honestly.

Someone with KNP and a solid Carapace Bodyguard can still take 180~ damage from a character with 60 STR and a 41 power axe. For 3M, mind you.

Not everyone packs Matador Stance, physical damage reduction or slash resistance.
