Crafter's Mark - Rendar - 11-25-2014

Can equipment be given a 'crafters mark' which signifies who crafted the item and the like? It isn't necessary, but I find selling gear with specific names to them < that were created by me and given book titles > wind up being renamed because "LolwhocaresaboutthisIClyitsnowcalled 'BITCH BREAKER!' "

Yeeees.

Heck, even letting the person who crafted it lock in a 'name' for the weapon would be fantastic. If it's a loot drop it can be renamed as it is now.

+1, I like this idea. Maybe a checkbox to toggle/disable. Or the ability to put a custom mark on it. IE: "Made by the Seeping Darkness", etc.

I don't like this for the fact if you craft a weapon, your name gets imprinted on it, then someone else renames it to something inappropriate and reports you for it. I'd rather not messes like that end up happening.

Re: Crafter's Mark - Rendar - 12-03-2014

That was .also. part of the original post, mind you. The crafter being able to NAME LOCK it to be called .one. name.

Why would that even be a problem though? Even if they did name it something inappropriate they can just rename it at the forge for no cost and the only way it would be an issue is if they refuse to rename it.

Well, that may be fine, but I doubt anybody's going to want to buy a weapon that they can't name to their own design, just for the sake of originality or having a sentimental value on it. I wouldn't, anyway. Just saying.

And since Daisuke posted the exact moment I did, I can't quote his post properly. But that's not the point. The point is, if someone is naming weapons inappropriately, they should be told to stop, and should stop, otherwise they'll do it again, and without renaming logs (which would be a pain to read through), we can't tell who actually renamed it, meaning it could either have been a set-up or someone trying to think they can get away with being immature and misbehaving.

If the person who makes the weapon, and locks the name on it < AKA the crafter mark too >, if its named innapropriately, the new owner can show it to a GM. Simple as that. If I make you a weapon, and call it something .specifically. because I made it IC and gave you a book? Like, for instance, the tome I gave you Ryu. "Skully's Guide to Romance" its a smutty romance novel. If you rename it, it loses its IC purpose, and therefore becomes lame.

Well, just saying because not everybody renames weapons. I wouldn't want to keep something named [Insert Generic Sword name here].
