My butt has outsmarted you - Autumn - 12-05-2016 Attacks that make hit checks in multiple squares at once, such as multifront and widespin, and assumedly crash potion, will apply the GUI hit bonus despite being in front of your target, when you are facing AWAY from them. tested with multifront and 20 GUI, gaining 20 hit rate.
