DR Stacking (again) - Autumn - 04-03-2017

Ever since Great Reckoning, stacking DRs has been pretty powerful, as we all saw with the recent tank nerfs, and a while ago I put up a thread on how powerful stacking DR can get.

A while ago when I made a thread about this, we came to a conclusion that some DRs such as Evasion, Wraithguard, etc. get halved effectiveness in your off-class, and while at the time that seemed to work, it didn't work too well when DEF/RES became DRs in great reckoning, because it still allows people to stack Wraithguard/Evasion and other stuff, however recently a form of DR Stacking was smushed out from interacting too well in the form of Stand off and Weir Konnen.

Here's an idea

Wraithguard, Evasion, Indomitable are fully effective if you are using them even if the class is your subclass.

Wraithguard, Evasion, Indomitable all become defensive knowledge skills similar to Stand Off, Weir Konnen.

And finally, since proper BKs got hit really hard just to prevent boxers from rising up to nigh unkillable levels, we could probably bump BK's damage resistance back to where it was because right now its just a worse wraithguard.

I'd be perfectly fine with this. In fact, I'd be more than happy to see it. I think making all of those into defensive knowledge skills would simultaneously kill off the leftovers of the tank meta and make people more varied vs just switching to the flavor of the month "every form of DR that will let you stack it."

And un-nerfing BK would probably be fair if this was put into effect.

Let's make it happen, +1 from me.

Re: DR Stacking (again) - Snake - 04-04-2017

Black Knights lost their credibility like hell, it's where I'm more concerned. I would love to see them reducing Physical Damage by 50% again if they wear Heavy Armor torso and use Black Wind, or something like that, like they used to. Armor/Magic Armor restrictions are no longer necessary since Mutation doesn't work with 10*s anymore.

Flat Armor is sort of useless in this meta. Heavy Armor also blocks you of many things and doesn't offer the 'proper' protection one could want from them normally.

Re: DR Stacking (again) - Autumn - 04-04-2017

I think bumping Black Knight's Indomitable to 12% again, and then triple it under black wind is completely possible if it and other the other major DR skills mentioned are classified as 'defensive knowledge', that way the name of the game isn't stacking as much DR as humanly possible anymore, and encouraging variety characters with unique or thematic builds instead of the staleness that is high damage duelist vs high DR tank.

Re: DR Stacking (again) - MegaBlues - 04-04-2017

36% Physical DR that requires upkeep every turn is much different than a potential 30% or so plain DR that lasts multiple turns with one cast.

Give Black Knights their physical tankiness back. Potentially in a form that works off of their pre-existing Physical DR, so they can't just use the class to tank and then build for magic stat-wise.

Re: DR Stacking (again) - Snake - 04-04-2017

'Main class only' things solve most of the problems.

Re: DR Stacking (again) - Lolzytripd - 04-04-2017

I don't see the point to hitting Wraithguard and evasion simultaneously, both are half effective when sub classed, and wraithguard isn't a passive, its an active skill with a short duration, that can be stolen or nulled.

Keir wonnen and Standoff were passives that gave you physical defense for having an offensive stat

I mean instead of making wraithguard defensive knowledge, I could see eviter being made it instead.

Re: DR Stacking (again) - Autumn - 04-04-2017

I don't think you realize how good wraithguard is, both are half effective when subclassed but that still means they can stack with one another, and because wraithguard can be nulled or stolen is not an argument, at all, wraithguard will be refreshed when stolen on the rare occasion you fight someone equipped with steal.

This thread was originally going to be how good wraithguard actually was but then it was discussed amongst several people and the bigger issue is stacking wraithguard with other things atm.

Well I've never gone out of my way to do that so. yeah
