Cripple arm doesn't seem to stop the secondary effects of your shield/glove slot even though I'm almost certain it did in the past (http://www.neus-projects.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2068&p=10669)
For example, cripple arm will not prevent the recoil of fang faced shield, it will not prevent you from gaining charges from lightning damage with conversion gloves. etc.
I remember it doing these in the past though and thats what I've put it up as a bug report.
