The Multiverse - Sawrock - 01-25-2015

I was lagging heavily while playing, and I was wondering why, when I looked at the pager...

...Any chance for a second alternate universe server, or some other solution? Or nawh?

Re: The Multiverse - Ryu-Kazuki - 01-25-2015

That is a bad idea on so many levels. Please no.

Re: The Multiverse - Sawrock - 01-25-2015

Mind if you explain why a bit? I think it's a good idea, because it'll have less lags, people can try alternate versions of their characters (or new characters altogether, if they'd prefer), and then there'd be more houses overall.

Re: The Multiverse - Ryu-Kazuki - 01-25-2015

Situations with guards, finding players, especially when we have no WHO verb, GM problems, anything related to concerning problems of that matter. It breaks the real time immersion in RP; especially in the person A is doing something here in the same city as you are, but on server B person B does something else and it really makes roleplaying unrealistic if two people can be in the exact same place and not interact with each other. Along with how their RP would affect the environment differently.

Then you have weather affects, raids, etc. And if they get incorporated into RP confliction events can cause conflictions in the IC.

There is just so much wrong with it and I don't want to write a book to explain it.

Re: The Multiverse - Rendar - 01-25-2015

The lag according to dev is an hourly < in game > mob clean up process that's a tad bad. It should be fixed next update with less lag.

Re: The Multiverse - Sawrock - 01-25-2015

There's a reason why I said "alternate universe". I can acknowledge the OOC problems, but since it's an alternate universe, the IC problems are non-existent. Think of it as a parallel dimension, but not the same dimension.

Re: The Multiverse - MegaBlues - 01-25-2015

Why would you want to further split up the playerbase?

Re: The Multiverse - Sawrock - 01-25-2015

Because if the game gets even more popular, it could cause lag all on its own due to the massive amount of players online.

EDIT: And because of the other reasons in the thread's third/my second post.

Re: The Multiverse - Trexmaster - 01-25-2015

It'd be a pain to manage two different servers with the current team we have. Probably.

I'd like if it were somehow feasible, though, but to have the same systems in place for two servers seems like a hassle.

I concur. Lag's always going to exist regardless of how many people we have online anyway. It's just a factor of life.

On top of that, having certain houses on map in certain locations kind of forces a server meta if people want to go to a house or access it there. Dev plans to ad more houses eventually anyway.
