A lot of old chairs that existed pre-Korvara are now... skewed. That is to say, you don't sit on them properly. The easiest way to see this is to sit on a wooden chair, either the ones in most Mage's Guilds, or ones in player houses.
Face south. Your character is aligned to the right, one leg sort of hanging off of the side.
Face east. You're not even sitting on it anymore!
