WASD Key Shortcuts - Mivereous - 03-24-2015
I remember shortly after the E, Shift E, and Ctrl E shortcuts got added, they worked for dungeons in unlocking and opening doors, and chests. And now they only work on player home doors, and gathering from in-dungeon nodes.

This doesn't tell me much. What happens when you try to use it on a chest? They don't work on dungeon doors and never did; you may be confusing this with the Click/Shift Click/Ctrl Click functionality. Whether or not they should is a topic for suggestions.

I had thought they did before, which is why I made it a bug. As I remember, E attempted to open chests, Shift E did unlocking, and Ctrl E did trap checks. Now it just does nothing - no message, no action, just staring at the chest. I'll move the rest of that for suggestions, as you...suggest.
EDIT: Yeah, the chests thing was added in 1.10 I see now, but now just doesn't work, as described above.
EDIT 2: Well, after clearing my cache for icon reasons, chests work again. So I don't even know.
