Poison
#1
I propose poison damage be nerfed across the board. It's kinda crazy that the MAX damage it can do is 10% of your health every turn, and it frequently hits that cap.

It's a huge part of why glykin is the best tank. Poison damage is simply too high! Oftentimes a single application can do hundreds of damage.

I simply propose that poison damage be 2x level instead of 3x level. No need to lower the cap. This would quickly make poison sources more acceptable in general. High level poisons from wyverntouched would be more useful, and poisoning+damage tools like wretched oil would no longer dominate so easily.

I'm staunchly against this. Poison is one of the few things in the game that generally works better against tanky builds than evasive builds because of the 10% threshold and LVs it currently has. If you simply reduce the effectiveness of Poison in the game by a third, you just equalize it by everybody taking ~60 damage instead, which again favors tanks.

Furthermore LV30 isn't the only LV of Poison in the game right now. Any source that's under that curve, like Lv15 Snake Shot and Snake Dancer Medley. Or Lv20 from Tamaki Shuriken just gets dumped hard.

It also makes moves such as Menov's Fang even more questionable to use. Instead of an extra ~45 damage per tick, you get an extra ~30 damage per tick. Menov's already doesn't get used nearly as often because players can often do better with direct damage spells. Nobody is gonna go for ~150 more damage over 5 rounds, I promise you that.

I think your argument that this change makes Wyverntouched's Poison Bite more useful is faulty. Higher than LV30 Poisons already have a use case against beefy characters and pretty much every LV60+ boss in the game who easily has over 900 HP. Furthermore, this means nobody except those with massive amounts of SAN would be caught dead using it, as opposed to now where if you have 40 Scaled SAN, it's a decent option to have.

A better "solution" to me would be allowing more equipment options that help deal with Poison, not by making Poison weaker.

Poison takes so long to kill people compared to the current amount of offense creep in the game, it is an answer to builds that like to slow burn you, but getting slow burnt is not really an issue aside from Solblader, which is already a really strong class to have to deal with.

I legitimately think that poison is not strong, I think its actually kind of weak in the grand scheme of forming damage profiles at the current moment, and yes I do actually mean that. Menov's is only really efficient at extending the status and not at dealing damage.

I also agree with Sly, having options to deal with poison is far more preferable, it doesn't call for a global nerf just because it frustrates some people, objectively speaking Poison is so much slower at dealing damage than other tank busting methods like Grenades, Bombs, Fray/Rampage etc.

Increasing the cap to 20% is probably fine

I just want to put this out there.

Every single "Super Boss" (Relei, Radigal, Medis) have 50% Poison resist. Alongside Relei having Ice Reflect and 50% Water resist.. among-other-things. Such as.. you know. 160+ Status Res.

Kind of on board with Sly here.

Super tanks are massively meta right now and poison is the only way to deal with them feasibly sometimes. And hell, a lot of those super tanks have 150+ status res too.

We don't need to make them even stronger.

Poison is such a non issue when this games damage race is so polarizing, having a single counter to you 7m guarding tanks is a blessing.

Poison is fine, yeah. Have you tried drinking a Snakebane potion? That's like 5 rounds of reduced damage.
