Children Of Meiaquar
Let me tell of a time from the city of crime that those outside could never know
Us kids back in the day, lived under skies of grey,
Playing in the alley,
And relying on ruse, in houses of abuse, we learned to raise ourselves
That’s where we faced the days, stealing for meagre pay, that’s the Meiaquar way.
Meiaquarise, Meiaquarise. It always meant… Born in the mud.
Meiaquarise. Meiaquarise. Hands of a child, soon stained in blood.
In those little cafes, we were many always, dreaming of better days.
Though struck with misery, we knew of trickery, hoping the day would come
Where lady luck would smile, the triumph of our guile, would bring riches and glory.
Seeing the rich parade, in mansions where they stayed, while on our knees we prayed.
Meiaquarise, Meiaquarise. It always meant. . . Dreaming of gold.
Meiaquarise, Meiaquarise. Envy and pride, to ward the cold.
Singing about the old days. Singing about himself and so many others. About the city. He was almost pleading. Reminiscing in bittersweet nostalgia. Looking off in the distance. . .
On the streets of my home, where the merciless roam, we were forced into violence.
To survive, become strong. Watch your step, who you wrong, and learn to make them fear.
With a gun in your hand, the respect in this land, you must earn through brutality.
Walking over the dead, leave behind those who bled, never lower your head.
Meiaquarise, Meiaquarise. It always meant. . . Want to be free.
Meiaquarise, Meiaquarise. The ones we hurt, are you and me.
And when I walk the streets, of this city in peace, and remember my family.
My brothers and sisters, fallen to the victors, and though I mourn the days,
I see again the light, of knowing when I fight, the others are here with me.
That’s what it means to be, the children of the sea, we are together free.
Meiaquarise, Meiaquarise. It always meant. . . La Familia.
Meiaquarise, Meiaquarise. It doesn’t mean anything at all.
A song about Jerry's childhood, and the shared experience of growing up in the poor areas of Meiaquar. A song about the struggles of needing to fend for oneself and rising in a world that gives you nothing. It's a song from the heart, a tale of sorrow, and a love letter to the city of Meiaquar.
This song leaves little to the imagination, despite being quite poetic. It simply explains his story, his upbringing. The conclusion of the song is that all of those things are now gone forever. He will never again know the highs and lows of that chaotic life, though he seems to have somewhat come to terms with that fact.
It's also a song of unity. Perhaps an attempt to bring together the people of Meiaquar. Like a brutal national anthem...
That’s what it means to be, the children of the sea, we are together free...
