Lore Questions: June (2016)
#1
This is a new topic for Lore Questions because the old one was about 26 pages. The format is roughly the same, but some guidelines;

1) Try and format your questions appropriately. As in, make it easy to read and answer.
2) Try and limit the number of questions you ask per thread. I don't mind answering them, but don't get crazy and ask me 20 things, especially if they require detailed answers.
3) Try to avoid asking extremely specific questions, such as 'Did anyone ever die of food poisoning in Cellsvich?'. Answering these is difficult, because not everything is set in stone, so giving a definitive answer on it not only restricts me in the future, but it might influence other players' character concepts that involve it.

That said, if you have any questions, you can post them in this thread! I will post answers at the end of the month/start of the next one.

Thanks! (And yes, if you had questions from the previous topic that I didn't answer before I closed it, you can post them here, but remember the formatting guideline.)

Do any of the races/religions have special practices or rituals for dealing with the dead?

Does X burn the bodies? Does Y have a week of mourning? This type of thing.
Someone takes 600 Lightning damage.

Does cancer exist? Can you have both cancer and void poisoning?

Would it be possible for Corbies (and possibly Phenexes) to have wing arms instead of them on their back? Was thinking it might be a rarer mutation, but figured it'd be worth asking in here. (Seeing as, well, it'd be more of a disability than anything...)

Is running a casino illegal in Sigrogana? As in, a casino that exchanges money, not exactly prizes like the Onigan casino

I don't generally know what the lantern bearer flames are based off of, but I can only assume they're great beasts of some sort(Pheonix, Fenrir etc.), given the shape..but I'll ask this one: Would there be a relative 'beast' of lightning or water? If so what would they be? (I ask this one because I wish to make icons for these in the future to submit)

I don't know if this one's been answered before, however I'll put it in anyway.

Do trains exist in Sigrogana? And if they do..do they run on stuff that a conventional train would?

How exactly does Silence and and Poison work?

We know that Silence can stop spells, but is it simply because it can stop people from speaking the words of power for said spell? I'm asking because we have multiple ways to 'silence' someone, ranging from slapping them with nightflower (lolwut), slitting their throat, and then smacking them with a black bubble. Do they all work in a uniform way that they attack a person's throat/auditory capabilities and therefore stops it, or is there other ways that certain effects cause this?

How about poison? Certain things don't exactly have a 'body', yet can be poisoned. Case in point, Dullahans are immune to poison, however Liches aren't even though they're sometimes made of "Pure Focus". Is this simply because the poison somehow seeps to the phylactery, or does it attack a liches focus and attempt to cause them to disperse?

Not sure if this has already been answered before but what kind of education system does Sigrogana have?
Is there a certain school that's most popular in Cellsvich? Or in any of the areas in Sigrogana?
Can you name one if so?

I just wanted to know for future characters.

Edit: Since this hasn't been answered yet, I decided to just add a question.

Mechanations, awakened ones specifically. If one were to transfer the core(I forgot what it was called right now) of an awakened mech, would the Mechanation still be awakened or does it revert back?

Yes, although burying or burning is the most common.

No.

No, that's the trait for harpies and birdmen which are monster races.

1) Gambling is illegal, yes. It tends to attract crime and cause violence, so any large scale operations wouldn't be allowed without approval, and probably wouldn't be able to trade money. I doubt anyone would bat an eye if you're betting a stack of coins on a hand of yenten in a bar, though.

2) A water psuedo-elemental would likely be some kind of fish. A lightning psuedo-elemental would be a bird.

3) No, not in the Great Six. You either take portals, ride on horses/carts, or hoof it.

1) Silence prevents spell casting by interfering with the verbal components of the spell. This doesn't have to mean a complete disabling of your speaking capabilities, of course.

2) Poison differs from source to source but the general idea is internal damage. In a lich's case, it eats away at the inside of the vessel, damaging it.

1) It depends on the region, but keep in mind this is a medievalish society. Sigrogana itself is rather antiquated, with few schools or academies, and commonfolk everywhere don't have access to a lot of knowledge or the tools to help them learn. Many only know what is taught to them by parents. Mercalan priest/esses will often help the less fortunate in some ways, such as by learning to read and so on, if they can.

Chaturanga and Karten on the other hand is the most progressive in terms of general populace's education levels, with Alstalsia being a very close second. Since Kysei is mostly made up of noble families, due in part to their nature as mercenaries and researchers, they have a smaller portion of the population incapable of affording education, and there are free, public schools of lesser quality that orphans of non-nobles attend.

2) I don't know what an 'awakened' mech is, but if you remove the core from their body, they will die. There's no transferring.
