Quality Tools and Material (Hard)
#1
As it is right now, quality tools (Thin Drill, Whetstone, Metal Stitch, etc. etc.) all require Iron Ingots to craft. This is in direct contrast to things like weapon parts (Piercing blade, Razor Guard, Sharp Hilt, etc. etc.) that instead ask for Material (Hard), letting you use things other than iron for them.

I'd like to suggest that quality tools be changed to also instead ask for Material (hard), to allow other things be used to make them besides iron.

The difficulty of crafting these tools has already been trivialized by the availability of their other components, conveniently and nonsensically sold at the casino.

Going to vote hard no on this, and further that the casino should not sell these materials.

I wouldn't say trivialized necessarily. It's still stupidly expensive to purchase these materials (100-200 murai a piece, depending on what you need)

And grinding for these materials is a huge pain in the ass besides. So I am going to disagree that the casino stop selling them. Or, if the casino not be a preferred avenue, have them sold elsewhere. An option to buy raw materials is a godsend for crafters.

Having an NPC who sells raw herbs and vegetables would also be a godsend to alchemists and chefs. But then you severely lessen player engagement in gathering and farming.

The tool materials were abundant enough already. Now their inclusion in recipes is nothing more than an additional crafting fee.

I'd like to point out the tool materials have always been available from vendors for 4+ years, and even then, the majority can be gotten even cheaper from non-casino vendors at present, and always have been. Tool creation prices have in fact only gone up recently, going up roughly 3x to 4x their previous purchasable price in terms of creation via buying.

I'd also like to point out none of it has anything to do with the suggestion, and should be kept to its own thread, as it is entirely off-topic.

I don't recall being able to buy jammer bones before they were added to the casino shop.

You've only been playing two months. Of course you don't remember things that happened before you start playing.

Let's not turn this thread into a pissing contest. Which NPC sold jammer bones prior to their addition to the casino?

As far as the topic itself, it's very clear that the intended purpose is to have players with different professions working together. A builder may know how to build a house, but likely doesn't know how to cast nails. An air conditioning specialist can fix your AC, but he didn't mix refrigerant in the laboratory.

Similarly, a tool maker may not have mastery over smelting and shaping iron. You need some friends!

The change would still require putting ores/remains into ingots, and iron ore at level 1 blacksmithing is no-fail to smelt with a base success rate of 110%, on top of being infinitely purchasable.
