I got this message when my mercenary grindylow tried to ice shot an ice tyrant ( The move failed and took their momentum ). They didn't use burrow beforehand since I was on total control.

Your grindylow was frozen, and thus incapable of targetting the ice tyrant.

It just happens when Grindylows target any square that isn't a monster/player. Or it did, last I checked.
