As time flows, the world shifts. Power changes hands, threats to the peace appear, new beginnings are written and old tales are put to rest.

Even recent history on Korvara stays turbulent. The aged dynasty in Geladyne has ended, and Telegrad seeks stability from the wake of a chaotic Duke; Meiaquar sails forward even with rough seas on its shores, and Duyuei bleeds in the sands amidst terrifying threats.

The future, too, will no doubt come with a chorus of cheers, and a flood of tears; for it is built upon the present, which is set upon and shaped by the past. The history of this aged island is something no one truly knows, and the schematics of its ancient architects' designs are, too, a mystery.

But amidst rising tensions and encroaching threats, most are only interested in what tomorrow brings, and not what yesterday means.
Rock & A Hard Place
"Professor Pink, but out of this tower, it's just Pink. I'm a Dark Bard, famous for cutting up my enemies while shredding licks."

Rounding out the first three promoted classes for the Bard base class is the Dark Bard; ironic, given their rough edges. The differences between them and a normal minstrel are numerous; a regular bard's song makes you feel something in your chest. A Dark Bard's song might make you feel someone's boot in your face.

Wild and a bit crazy, Dark Bard is unlike its base form in that it is less about supporting allies and more about smashing faces. Their songs often deal damage to those who listen - and not just to their foes. Even their fellow party members can and will take Kickback Damage from Dark Bard skills; thankfully, not nearly as much as the hosers in the crowd.

This isn't to say that such factors are bad enough to break up the band; quite the contrary. Allies can benefit very much from taking part in the show. Joining them are unique, featureless figures called Shadow Moshes. These scary front-row fans aren't going to let anyone get close to the Dark Bard without a punch to the face, that's for sure.

Overall, Dark Bard is a great, if slightly tricky, class for any Bards who are looking to crowd surf on their way to giving their enemies a bloody nose and a broken heart.
Hell's Beating
Instrument skill. Take a swing at an enemy within 1 Range with your instrument, with greatly increased Critical Damage.
If it hits, all other units within a 3 Size Circle take Sound magic damage (allies take Kickback Damage), and enemies may be inflicted with Hesitation, as that probably really hurt.

The Pit
Time to teach them what a real show is like.
Targets a 2-4 Size Ring of tiles around you and creates a Shadow Mosh at each of those locations (except locations occupied by a unit, dense tile, or Shadow Mosh).

Dark Revelry
A little bit of pain just makes the music more rockin'.
Allies who take damage from your Dark Bard skills gain Darkness Hype LV 10 (max LV: 300, max 10 rounds).
Even More Unique Treasures
"One can make anything a blade with enough toiling, and it need not cut deep, not if it already rests within the chest..."

As one might expect, the island of Korvara will be seeing a collection of new items added to its vaults.

Featuring 30+ brand new equipment items, you may find yourself with a new favorite toy, or a little something to help bolster what you already like. All of these new items span the normal rarities (2* ~ 9*) and are exclusive to the Korvara drop table (for now).

Keep your eyes peeled, though - some of these new items may have more to them than meets the eye.
Maned Tonfa
Tonfa.
Grants Skill: Guard
Tonfa Block - Increases the LV of Guard statuses applied to you by 5 if you are two-handing this weapon.

Sanctifying Hand Lantern
+3 FAI
Prevents most special effect tiles from being created at your location by enemies.

Homura
Katana.
When an enemy's Parry skill is triggered by this weapon's damage; deals 30 protection-ignoring Fire damage to them. (1 round cooldown).
A Multitude of Facets
"What once was admiration changed to scorn, as naturally as a leaf's color fades in the Fall."

A fresh helping of character traits is on the horizon.

This update brings a total of 15+ brand new traits, along with some of the most unique ones ever. While some of these traits have more impact than others, they also carry with them more stringent requirements.

The balance between 'unique and impactful' and 'mandatory' is still being carefully considered with these new additions, with the overall goals of both supporting your character's RP, and allowing avenues to unique character builds.
Strongest Muscles
Requires: 30 STR, 30 VIT, Race With Natural Skin
Your body is like a statue, in that it feels like it's made of stone. While you do not have a Torso item equipped, you gain +10 Armor, +10 Magic Armor, and 10% Blunt Resistance. You also gain the skill Cast Off Flexing (Flex so hard that whatever's on your upper body goes flying off, unequipping your Torso equipment slot item. If there was one, all enemies might be inflicted with Hesitation LV 50 until your next turn, because good lord, look at those biceps.)

Undeniable Innovator
Requires: 80 APT
With a mind like a hurricane, there's no telling what someone so multitalented and creative can pull off. Increases Skill Pool maximum to 99, allows any weapons to be equipped regardless of class, and allows you to use the main class skills of your subclass.

Power of Normalcy
Requires: Character Level 30, or at least 1 Legend Extension
Even a mouse knows how to bite hard. If your Main Class and Sub Class are both Base Classes, you gain +4 to all stats. If they are the same Base Class, you gain +8 to all stats instead.
Mountains of Enchanting Materials
"That one fell apart in record time. Now, what if I make one out of this?.."

Heads up - you'll be able to make your equipment out of even more stuff soon.

With this update comes a total of 20 brand new item materials. Whether you're a metal man, a wood woman, a cloth connoisseur, or a page person (or anything inbetween), there's a little something headed your way. Some of these materials shore up gaps, while some are completely unique. And of course, you'll be able to make Material Change Kits for each of them.

Like all materials, you'll be able to gather them by breaking down items or in various locations on Korvara.

If that's not enough for you, a set of 8 new item enchantments are also being added! Much like the materials, some shore up gaps, while some open up a world of possibilities for your dream character concepts. These catalysts are craftable, but only if you use a certain recipe book first, so be on the lookout if you're an aspiring enchanter.
Thunderheart
Enchants: Armor or Hands
Increases LUC by 2 and Lightning ATK by 3.

Fungusbark
Type: Wood
Covered with countless spores, this wood is a magnet for fungus. Therein lies its value.
Weapon: +2 Power, +2 Weight, -5 Durability, +3 Acid ATK. Fungus grows on the item at start of battle.
Armor: -1 Armor, -1 Magic Armor, +5 Evade +2 Weight, +5% Acid Resistance. Fungus grows on the item at start of battle.

Arcane
Enchants: Weapons
Weapon is treated as a Spelledge weapon, allowing it to be used as a casting tool, but it gains the Alterated scaling tag (-10% scaling for main stat).
Loyal Companions
"That which is given shall be what is returned."

A trio of new summoner friends are on their way to your location.

From the depths of old come some friendly, and familiar to some, faces. This update will add 3 brand new Youkai to the game; the loyal three-headed dog, Kerberos. The living body of flame, the Fire Elemental, and their quick and gusty counterpart, the Wind Elemental.

These three, like all Youkai, come with their own set of unique skills that you can utilize via Sync Mind, though they're more powerful when summoned to the field.

Fire Elemental
A magical being whose form is made of elemental energies; in this case, flame.

Kerberos
A three-headed dog known for its ability to guard three times as well as the average mutt.

Wind Elemental
A magical being whose form is made of elemental energies; in this case, the wind.
Hidden Powers
"The bard's skill in recounting the tale was formidable, yet couldn't compare to the singing of the sword it was based on..."

It's time for your specials weapons to unleash their potential and strike forward... something like that.

Spreading across the item pool, both new and old, a total of 10 Item Potentials and 10 Special Strikes are coming along with this update. Not only that, but visual effects will finally be added for the existing Special Strikes.

Covering the spectrum of weapon types, you may find a new way to enjoy beating your enemies' heads in, regardless of what class you prefer.

Gorger
Special Strike: Bloodfest
Triggers after the attack hits an enemy. Restores 35 HP and deals 35 Dark bonus damage that ignores armor to the target. If you have Claret Call active, it is also applied twice to that enemy.

Cleaving Clarinet
Potential: Wind Risoluto
Song skill. Play the Cleaving Clarinet, creating an Air Shaft at your own location for 3 rounds. Afterwards, you attack all enemies within 1 Range with the Cleaving Clarinet.

Fae Bow
Special Strike: Midsummer Majesty
Triggers after the attack hits an enemy. Restores 50 HP to yourself and all Fairy Youkai you have summoned. Furthermore, it has a chance to inflict the target with Charm LV X (X = 10 + 10 per Fairy ally) for 3 rounds.
The First Diastrophism
What was predicted to be just another routine star shower was, indeed, just that... for a time. That was until the stars themselves began to rain down into the oceans near Korvara itself, bringing with them brief and sudden tremors.

As well as it would be to leave it at that, a single blue comet managed to find a way to thread into Korvara's land proper. Where it fell, exactly, is not known; but its presence was felt as powerful quakes shook the island for minutes afterwards.

Now, although the island has not suffered major damage, the chaos has shifted earth, forest, and water, leading a way into shores too difficult to traverse until now...
