Yokoshura
Overview

Yokoshura is a new 'nation' added in the D2 update.

In setting, Yokoshura has quietly existed in obscurity created by distance, circumstance, and isolationism; so quietly, in fact, that none know of it. It carries a similar aesthetic to Oniga (in the Great Six), being an eastern-styled society within a seemingly unnatural desert. The promoted class Shinobi and its variety of techniques seem likely to have originated from this land.

Although it must contend with the challenges presented by an increasingly inhospitable land, Yokoshura have a ray of hope - the Myr Tree. This golden tree, predating even Yokoshura itself, can produce jewel-like 'seeds', which - when used correctly - are capable of nullifying and even reversing the desertification in their lands.

The only challenge to producing these seeds, however, is a simple problem - the Myr Tree must feed on blood.

A challenge that the Yokoshura have no problem meeting.

F A Q
Q. Can I make a Yokoshura character and play it before the update hits?
You can prepare your character profile and so on, but please do not leave the tutorial room or select a starting location before the update is live!
Q. I want to make a noble family / be a Dragon Head. Do I need to ask anyone for permission to do so?
No. You are free to do so, but keep the following in mind to avoid any issues:
1) Avoid making absolute statements that could restrict others from doing the same. For example, don't say your family 'owns all the sapphire mines in Yokoshura'.
2) Don't spawn in as a Daimyo. That's a different thing that's handled IC.

You also don't need permission to name and define the town/village your Dragon Head manages.

Also, while not required, I do recommend trying to collaborate with other Dragon Heads and perhaps try to create some connection between your noble families, as this enrichens the environment. Perhaps the two families have old grudges left unsettled, perhaps they were on opposite sides in the Rogaku Wars, perhaps they have been the bestest of buds and nothing will ever come between them.

Just some ideas!
Q. What about for the Designations (Fangs, Scales, Wings)?
These do not require any sort of special permission.

For Fangs, if you wish to also come up with a Draconic Aspect (or work towards one), you can do so (see Draconic Aspects in Spiritualism for what they are). There may be a list of aspects people have created for reference; if there is, I'll link it here.
Q. Will there be an 'official' Yokoshura guild? Am I allowed to make my own guild for my Dragon Head's clan?
There will probably be a generic Yokoshura guild made. However, if you want to make one for your clan, you are also welcome to do so. Keep in mind that you will need a Guild Charter to do so; assuming there's still no NPC to buy it from, you can obtain this by asking a GM and paying a fee (25,000 Murai).
Q. I want to do a thing in Yokoshura as a player character. Do I need to pass on all of the details and make sure it's okay first?
What is your 'thing'? Some sort of general antagonism, some sort of party/festival, starting some sort of intrigue?

So long as you're acting in good faith with your best understanding of the lore, and are obeying the rules (IE acting like a normal person), no. Go for it.

NOTE: This is a general long-term statement. If this update just came out not so long ago, check the Yokoshura announcements section, as there might be a temporary restriction on certain things to let new characters prepare.

Is your 'thing' something really wild with long-term effects, like razing the town or trying to take it over or something? In that case, it's probably best to discuss it beforehand, just for the sake of everyones' sanity. You can message Devourer of Souls or Modmail on Discord.
Q. I want to run or was asked to run an event/plotline in Yokoshura as an eventmin. Do I need to make sure it's okay?
This is probably something you should ask about first, if for no other reason than verification purposes. Send details to Devourer of Souls or Modmail on Discord.

NOTE: This only refers to within the town itself, or if it would take place in the unmapped regions of Yokoshura. You can always ask just to be safe, though.
Q. If I'm an Outsider, am I expected to just stay away from Yokoshura?
Not at all. However, keep in mind that the separation between 'Yokoshuran' and 'Outsider' is a part of the lore, and so ICly you may get glares or be treated in a less than nice way, depending on what your character does or how they act, and/or depending on the IC of the character who interacts with you.

This tension is there to enrichen the environment - there would be little point in establishing this bit of lore if the goal was to try and make sure Outsiders and Yokoshurans don't interact.

Don't take this personally OOC if it happens, as it's just part of the setting. Being a somewhat unwelcome guest can lead to interesting RP on its own!
