It kills roleplay a lot for me, as almost all my fights are RP. Even when PvE (with friends).

If you're not contributing to the topic, don't post. No, questioning people's intelligence isn't contributing.

I disagree really Sawrock, based on the general population who just flings around skills and spells and you don't see much RP in between until the fight is long over. So it won't really show much of a difference to me and only really destroy a useful tool we have to find out if something might be broken.

...Ryu, please read your own sentences a little more thoroughly. You literally confirmed everything that was in the OP to be true. "I don't really see much RP-killing" closely followed by "nobody really roleplays during PvP." Which isn't entirely true, there are a few who do; but the current system is entirely unappealing in a role-playing sense. And that is what this thread is aimed to fix.

I am fully supportive of the notion to have all the combat information somewhat obscured and/or hidden.
Ryu, I'm unsure whether the stuff changed during your hiatus or simply the group of people you oversee/interact with is limited, but I've on many occasion seen/been in RP combat and quite enjoy it myself so I disagree with what you said.

You're obviously misunderstanding me. I didn't confirm anything was true, all I confirmed is that from what I've seen, nobody does it, so the system doesn't kill RP. You can RP with the current system, so nobody does. Yes the idea would improve the system and make things better, but it also has a cost that I personally don't want to see as the end result (especially since I can't stand coding errors whatsoever).

I applaud those who do RP during PvP, but nothing's really stopping people other than themselves.

I'm fairly certain that the whole RPing during combat is not strictly what the OP had in mind.

It's the whole hiding information to avoid meta, rather different RP aspect of combat.

That was the very first sentence in the thread, so I'd assume that was the point of this thread. Yeah it can be metagamey, but that doesn't mean it's not useful or people won't try to metagame anyway. Like I said, I don't see anything wrong with the system other than people not wanting to RP because of it.

This too. I'm fairly certain that many people have had bad experiences where people metagamed their level, attacked them because they knew they were a lower level (which they can easily counter that they couldn't see and there would be no way to disprove that), or just generally miraculously knew something about their enemies capabilities that they should not have known (literally every PvP, all of them). Tell me, how many times have you seen a person check their hit by targeting an enemy, realized the odds were not in their favor before even attempting it, and instead used an auto-hit? Because I see it in almost every PvP, IC or not, and it's a horrible practice that leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.
