That's a bug, since on-round start effects are mostly called 'bonus damage'. And bonus damage cannot be avoided.

Omina's Curse? I don't know what to add to that, aside it dealing Darkness magic damage to the enemy and restoring some of your HP, so it gives a "drain" vibe to it.

It works for me too, but the RNG of it is very stupid low. Mark this as Solved and get a Balance Fu working over it, I'd think this could either 'always make a mass of spirits appear' if it keeps this...
