Lore Questions: May (2015)
#11
Quote:Redtails live about 1.5x longer than humans. (120 years typically). However, some tales say that Redtails can live forever by stealing the luck of other mortals, which usually leads to that mortal's demise soon after. (Could this be true? Maybe, but recall what others say about a certain other race that isn't actually them...)

I'd like some more information about this luck-stealing ability. Is it actually a thing Redtails can do? Is it possible for Redtail players to do? How does it work exactly? Are there any limitations to it?

How old does a real wyvern get before it dies of age? And is there a clear difference between 'Modern' wyverns and wyverns of old, or are they completely the same?

Are Wyverntouched direct descendants of wyverns and [Insert races here]? Or is there some other way they actually came to be along in history?

If Wyverntouched are direct descendants of Wyverns, how common are 'Pure' Wyverntouched, as in the very first generation between a wyvern and another race?

How smart is the average wyvern?

Does a wyvern have any unique features which make them stand out in their human guise? Slitted eyes, scales, that sort of stuff.

How powerful is a wyvern in its humanoid form?

1. What fully is 'void poisoning' and what I mean by that is, can you describe what it is from head to toe basically what all it icly does, what it is like, any stages of it? ect...

2. What all gives you 'void poisoning' other than Void assassin's abilitys?

3. Can void poisoning ever be cured completely? through RP using deities or the laws of 'magic is fickle' Which if its looked at the 'law of fickle magic' defines that we cannot accurately say what magic is able and unable to do

4. as par Liches, the ritual states one version of it so far, being that the user themselves turns into one. However, would it be out of the question entirely for the user to 'make' a lich, through a process such as soul splitting, or reanimation ect....or help another mage along.

""]Stupid two questions:
1) Do Mechanations have a patron deity?
2) If not, what happens if they enter the deepwood?

(Sorry, I'm trying to come up with another corrupted/ Race idea)

1) They are artificial creations, so they don't fit the requirements to have one, no.
2) They can be destroyed by the forest's inhabitants or make their way out.

""]1. Can Doriads spawn on Mersales? If so, what happens to them? Are they treated any differently than Elves?

2. Is there any specific age of adulthood for Elves?

3. How does timelessness work for Elves? Do they choose when to stop aging, or can they choose how old to appear at will?

4. How strictly is time kept track of in Mersales?

1) Doriads cannot spawn on Mersales.

2) I'd say they enter adulthood slightly (5-6 years) after a human would.

3) They reach adulthood and then they stop aging entirely. It's not a willed or controlled ability.

4) They probably can't tell you the hour and minute, since they don't have access to Asago Corporation's lnet technology, but they keep track of days.

""]How is insanity/Self harm viewed in terms of the law enforcement? If one were to bug a guard about seeing this horrible display, would a guard do anything? Like be obliged to get them help, or even arresting for causing unrest, or something along the lines?

Also slightly related,
Despite we have estabilished that combat is slightly age scaled (Even through it's very vague still) , how young would you have to be for Sigroganian NPCs to outright refuse service? (Tarson allowing you into arena, Smiths giving you anything sharp)

Typically self harm would denote you as a person of interest, especially if you're getting enjoyment out of it. A guard would likely ask you to stop and warn you against doing it again (in public at least); refusing that would get you arrested.

For most of them, they would probably require an adult or verification that you belong to a certain group (for example, if you were a squire picking up swords, etc.) Tarson probably wouldn't want to see a kid get hurt, but he might be willing to set them up against a jammer to help train them. It really depends on context, though.

If that disease only affects the living (which 99% of them do, I've heard), yes.

""]Here's a few low ones.

-Does condoms exist? If so, how widely produced are they?
-Are there any other ways to prevent impregnation, both before and after intercourse?
-Is abortion an actual thing people do? If yes, how does this work?

No.
There are medicinal solutions, yes. No, I'm not going to elaborate.
Really?

""]Considering this article: http://now.tufts.edu/articles/how-do-bir...sh-weather

...How do the crows in Law's End survive? There are no places for them to take shelter during the sandstorms, and even if there was, they'd overheat and die.

---

Can magic be sensed in any fashion? If so, can it be done naturally, or does it need a device?

Gold is not a natural desert. Most of the heat you feel in it is due to the lack of shade (due to lack of water preventing natural shade from growing). Also, I guess these crows must be special somehow.

Yes, in fact, Zerans are natural magic detectors, thanks to their horns. Typically magic is powered by focus, and so detecting extraordinary amounts of focus is a good way to detect magic. Some subtler magics use less focus and are harder to detect. There are devices to help measure the amount of focus in an area, although sometimes they are unreliable, and Zerans are capable of detecting focus very sensitively. Although if a large amount of focus is in an area, it's possible for anyone to feel it if they're in the same area.

""]1. What happens to those who die in the Deepwood? Are they always 'eaten alive', as in, no corpse left behind and what not. Gone forever?

2. Does anything live in the Deepwood? I'm thinking Papillions might, but, it doesn't explicitly mention it.

3. Is it possible for other races to indefinitely survive in the Deepwood?

4. If a Vampire were to be (forcibly) drained of their blood prior to death, would this cause them to permanently die? If not, do methods achievable by normal and or talented people (see: not gods or something) exist that could kill a Vampire for good without them 'misting'?

5. Does Mercalan magic have any limitations whatsoever to what it's capable of recovering, beyond an obviously dead person? To add to that--

6. How much experience does it require to recover more grevious wounds with Mercalan magic? Would any healer, regardless of training, be able to use it to regenerate limbs and organs, so long as they knew 'Graft'?

7. About how common are practioners of Mercalan magic? As in--in your average small rural village(100~ people or so), how unlikely/likely is it that at least -one- person living there would be capable of using it?

8. In regards to
Quote:The second is Cladis Mortem, which are sentient undead
in terms of undeath--
I am assuming necromancers are capable of creating undead akin to these? Is it possible to be afflicted with Cladis Mortem by other means, assuming that latter fact is in fact true?

1) They become plant food.

2) Yes.

3) No.

4) No. Probably not; if they could, they probably wouldn't need things like Church Knights.

5) Missing organs or limbs (depending on the size) cannot be regenerated. You might be able to regenerate missing digits (fingers/toes) if you're quick.

6) Experience isn't so much the issue as it is focus issues. Healing with Mercana consumes a lot of focus, and it gets much more focus hungry the larger the project.

7) Typically the church deploys them on a basis of need and has at least one within reasonable distance to known settlements, although some are so far out of the way that they need to fetch a priest from a bigger town if they need one. The knowledge and use of Mercana is highly regulated by the church for obvious reasons, so it's not something the village apothecary does on the side.

8) Necromancers cannot create Cladis Mortem undead, because Cladis Mortem undead retain their personality and will. They create Cladis Mortem Null undead. Cladis Mortem is typically a curse, and it can come from a variety of sources, but none that are really influenced by mortals aside from the lich ritual.

""]According to
Quote:A trace comparison with the remains of one the attackers was performed in all non-public areas, including the Tennou Royal Palace and the various royal families' castles. In all tests, the result was negative, showing that the unique composition of the attackers was not at these places.
This implies that every being has a 'unique composition'. What is this composition?

If the above is too vague-- How does one 'trace' this composition? Is it something a normal person is at all capbable of doing?

What 'remains' are necessary? Or rather, what exactly is required to 'trace' the 'composition' of something from them?

Are there methods of concealing one's 'compositon' or otherwise removing traces of it?

The attackers in question were not normal people. A normal person could probably do it with the right tools and training.

Remains as in remains; pieces of body parts, and all that.

Not really, no.

If yes to the above question, how wide is the elemental spectrum of these invocations? Are there multiple ones for each element?

Is it possible to create your own invocations ICly?

1) Are you asking if there are invocations beyond the ones in game? Which is an obvious yes.
2) Wide.
3) Not any more than it is possible to create your own spells.

As hinted, it's not something the Redtail race does, but a race similar to them.

About a hundred years. No.

Yes.

All of them.

Above average.

It depends, but usually they look similar to wyverntouched.

About as strong as they look.

1,2,3. http://sl2.wikia.com/wiki/Void_Poisoning

4. No, this isn't possible.
