Invention Application - Mining Robot ~ Laser
Posted by: Toffee - 04-23-2024, 09:56 PM - Forum: Applications - Replies (1)

Applicable BYOND Key: ChewingToffee
Character Name: Kip Di Lucchi
Request Type: Invention

Request Details: The creation of government-owned and produced mining robots that are meant to assist Meiaquar's workforce in gathering resources from caves within the Tundra.
Specific Request - A small and weak mining robot model that uses a focused laser to cut through rock, cut minerals from stones safely, and carry resources and rubble to designated locations to make mining easier for fleshy humans. All the while not requiring direct control from an engineer due to Meiaquar's Anchor Points.

Reason why you are making this request (if applicable): One of the things I wanted to do when mining operations were slated to begin in the Tundra was create a series of robots similar to Meiaquar's Guards, that can function within a squad of mining personnel and assist them without replacing them or acting in their stead. These particular models are relatively small (3'5"), weak with no stopping power in case of danger, and wouldn't be able to do the job of a blast miner. Rather, they exist for precision cuts to ensure minerals don't lose their value and rocks don't get in the way of workers.
Roleplay & Lore supporting your request: This is currently our first set of models planned after the Guard Robots, which has had a long history in Meiaquar. No roleplay has been done towards their creation yet, but logs can be provided if approved and work begins.

Inspiration: ICly, Kip has recently been appointed the Capo Di Lucchi and oversees all industry and mining operations in Meiaquar. Because of this, she'd want to apply her knowledge to make the jobs of those under her easier and more convenient.
Limitations: These models have a multitude of shortcomings as they're not combat-oriented and are incapable of defending themselves. They're also incredibly slow, requiring many to be on the field at a time. They cannot leave the proximity of Anchor Points that are set up outside of the mine, meaning transporting them to the Tundra and back will take effort and manpower.
Existing Technology: These robots are intended as extensions to the Anchor Point and how they affect Meiaquar's government-issued robots. They follow the same rules with specific orders on mining crystals and moving debris with their buckets.
Development Time: The concept for these machines would likely take an IC month to complete, with another IC month spent designing one for the nation's factories to begin producing afterward.

  Verglas Stance QoL addition
Posted by: Autumn - 04-23-2024, 04:21 PM - Forum: Quality-of-Life (QoL) - Replies (7)

When you start a fight for the first time on logging in as a Verglas, you'll always start in the stance that is the first equipped skill in your list of skills, this stance however carries over through battle to battle, with the ability to swap around my skills as I see fit, I think that it should always start you off in whatever stance this is instead of the last stance you were in, just like when you log in.

This would make it so my ideal PvP scenario isn't relogging to get my ideal stance, and make it so that I can start with Hare stance much more consistently in PvE content, instead of having to use rapid kick on thin air, this is also very good for Bear stance users as their gimmick revolves around getting that up pretty immediately.

It'd be a very helpful QoL change to Verglas players if you just started any fight with the first equipped stance in your skill list, instead of just the first fight, this should never affect anything balance wise but forcing me to relog before a fight.

  Hyattr thread
Posted by: Poruku - 04-21-2024, 09:05 AM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (1)

Maybe fire breath is a lost cause.

Okay, what do dragons do other than breathe fire? That's right, they're lizards and they fly and they hoard a bunch of gold. Hold up now. A lot of gold? That's right, we should increase SWA by how much murai you have. +1 damage per 100 murai.

Anyway on a more serious note we gotta fix Hyattr, starting with the scaling of fire breath.

Make it SAN+100%fire atk+SWA. Would be a bit too strong to spam so give it a 2 turn cd. Destruction energy gives it 100% extra fire atk scaling, and if you have both energies you get SAN added in again. This allows you to build hyattr with or without san but it's gonna be solid either way and with the potential for decent damage. It's essentially like an evoker evocation in terms of raw damage, but with the difference that you get SAN as a bonus instead of greaper + spell bonuses. Weaker without san investment, a bit stronger with high san investment. No op effects like KD or 50% res reduction, but a great aoe. I think it's a fair power level overall. You can also use it as a decent damaging ability without using energy, mixing it with your other stuff during battle every other round.

I also think it would be cool if you could pick chromatic dragon color as a trait that change your breath to other elements. Blue/white dragon for ice, green/black for acid, and red for fire (as a true descendent of hyatt, you have the vanilla fire breath but get +5 fire atk). The elements could also change the cone aoe. Ice is a 5-wide line, and acid is a 90 degree cone but loses 2 length. Ice leaves ice sheets, acid leaves those poison pools.

You could then further get a trait that gives it a status effect based on the element. Burn, acidity, and frostbite. This would make it a little bit more worth using, and would allow it to work with other parts of your build instead of raw damage only.

We already have the three dragon youkai so it would make sense imo. Anyway, hyattr needs some love. Would be a cool new way to make an acid build, too.

  2.85f Kensei's Fray

Hirazuki's Fray is not obeying the tooltip and is applying at level 15 still instead of level 12.

[Korvara] Leona Regallius - Height request
Posted by: Asellia - 04-19-2024, 03:54 AM - Forum: Approved Characters - Replies (1)

Applicable BYOND Key - KorvaraAsellia
Character Name - Leona Regallius
Request Type - Character Height Max
Request Details -  Hi. Can I upgrade Leona's height up to eight feet from seven?
Specific Request - Height to 8 feet tall
Reason why you are making this request (if applicable) - She was meant to be big, and her latest changes (should) have upped it, but I was kind of at the limit.

Roleplay & Lore supporting your request -
Her creator is an npc still, so I don't exactly have roleplay- but she is a (fairly) old homunculi with an inefficient method of energy creation, so she needs more 'space' to have more energy, thus the size up. This'll likely be the final one at eight feet cuz any more and Im a bit weird about it myself, but this one made sense given she recently had upgrades before returning home to Geladyne.

  Fire Elemental and Wind Elemental
Posted by: Rendar - 04-18-2024, 08:30 PM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (5)

Yukionna does not trigger Ice Sheets when walking along them. This stops her from being able to kill her opponent dead if she somehow gets frostbite.

Wind Elemental gets a high damage move, and can trigger traps (deserved), but reflects wind damage. Which makes it a fantastic option to just throw out and forget. If they get hit by a wind AoE, it shifts momentum from you in a way that's never recoverable.

Fire Elemental gets a high damage move and can trigger cinder tiles to reflect the damage back to the person that made them. Making their best damaging option against a cinder build "I spend 7 momentum to run around in cinder tiles to kill you with zero recourse."

Wind Elemental should get the Floating tag so it can't trigger ground tiles.

Fire elemental should either get the floating tag, or simply not trigger Cinder Tiles.

Or just. Both of them don't reflect common damage types, same for Yukionna, and it being changed to immunity. Summoners been eating 2 damn good.

Not per-say a big issue. But there's a missing tile that need to be placed in Duyuei City-map.
It is located between the river and sparring pit in Duyuei map.

  Characters of a greater fortune
Posted by: FatherCrixius - 04-18-2024, 05:22 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

I have long since been of the mind that SL2 handles player strength very very poorly for a roleplaying medium.

Keeping things brief-- My suggestion is two fold. Feel free to skip the explanation and respond with awful no good terrible opinions below.

  • GM's are permitted to play stronger characters, characters with mob-profiles, higher levels, event tool buffs etc if it is narratively poignant.
  • Players are allowed to character app for level-cap increases in the same capacity as the background apps of now.

Why?

Saying nothing of the homogeneity of SL2 power scaling, the PvP is inherently toxic to the player's creative freedom. Some players (wrongly) believe the PvP is to be or even is a competitively viable game in and of itself; too any player with a degree of understanding will know it is not so. This game has never been balanced comfortably, most things you can pick up are not viable under any level of scrutiny; and most mechanical fantasies can not be enacted without sacrificing theme or presence in someway. On G6 this was on the tame end custom tome swords, on Korvara god knows.

If you want to play a character of a higher narrative strength, the due diligence is giving them a strong build first, and oftentimes what is meta or even viable is not what meshes well with the character. What if you wanted to subject yourself to kensei? Or a Salamandra? Do you just accept every loss that comes your way while trying to convince people otherwise?

In the past this has been blamed on vague 'Metagamers' and 'Ungas' etc. An arms race where to remain sovereign in the sanctity of your character you must be prepared to deal with the RM / Engi / Whatever that will attempt to cheese you for mechanical gain. Jobbing is Jobbing, and playing any sort of greater character requires you to engage the rat race in some capacity. I think at the very least, some ought to be exempt from this because;

It is basically already happening.

One of the initial TENETS of event-minning was that EM characters would not feature outside of eventmin activity. A very dumb rule that corrodes organic storytelling for the sake of maintaining the homogeneity. It has not been followed; nor do I believe it ought to be, the expectation of these characters breaking immersion is not one being represented.

There is a not-gay way for this to be done; But please comment kings. This is an idea with flaws.

  New Prop: Suspicious Bush
Posted by: AkaInuHime - 04-18-2024, 07:38 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (5)

It would be nice to have the nest sprite be placeable as a prop, especially if it could go on top of the player like the skill itself. It'd be a fun, cute little visual for a character hiding in ambush or spying on others ic, and best of all, the bush icon already exists, so it'd probably be pretty easy to add.
