A thought, what stipulations would you put on theoretically using pieces of 3 classes.
My opinion
Class level reduced to 20.
Innate passives of the third class require slots, you do not gain the base classes skills or passives, all skills count as -1 rank min 1.
So you give up 60 class points total of your first 2 classes and bases for 20 of a thirds

I think it'd be way too tough to balance, whatever you do. The elephant in the room of tri-class would be the BK+Ghost golem becoming the BK+Ghost+Bonder golem, any restrictions severe enough to make that not completely oppressive would probably make any other combination feel bleh to play.

lose 10 points in your primary and secondary classes. Gain 20 in a third base class. innates must now be equipped. -1 max rank to all skills from third class.

Give me a special slot to take ONE passive from another class that I'm not using.
I NEED universal fleur!!! (this is a bad idea, don't listen to me.)

I think this is just not a good idea on multiple levels. Mainly because it would overcomplicate balance and I don't even like it as a concept as it dilutes the uniqueness and weight behind choosing your classes. Priest hexer? Throw in BK, why not. Ghost bk? Throw in hexer or druid and it's now better. support healer? Guess you can grab spellthief, a defensive class, and priest all in one and why wouldn't you? This doesn't sound fun, it sounds like every "optimal" build would simply have all their weaknesses covered.
Balancing this with reduced points just doesn't sound right. Some classes require only 20 points in order to do everything you need, or even less. It's actually impossible to balance because every class trio would come with different advantages that might be unaffected by the change, unless it's a stat cost, which like... Would also vary in effectiveness. It would likely be irrelevant for certain combos, like a pacifist healer. But it would nerf more fun combos.

I only bring up the idea as in sl1 we had multiclassing to a max of three classes split over 30 shared levels at the end
