Absolute Fearless

"Chaos" Wrote:I'd be fine with buffing the duration of Infliction-check Silences.

I would not, however, buff the duration of Absolute Fear's silence. Nor is the skill 'useless' enough to warrant buffing a Silence that can be slapped on without a care for status resistance, unless you're telling me that somehow, everyone and their mothers runs the entire Bravery talent and everyone and their mothers would run Heron Feather over either a major stat-booster accessory, Sayakana, or any sort of Elemental Resistance booster.
Every mage who is afraid of silence either runs Sceamer or Heron feather. It´s actually a thing. Silence immunity is just so much etter than 4-8 stat.

And well I do run all the bravery talent tree on every character that uses melee, there is no reason to not do that. mages don´t need that for that was basially the last part of AF.
So I am saying that everyone and their mother uses those, yes.

But I do agree with what you say aside from that, make silences staus infliction and leave it be otherwise. Heron feather is a issue however in my opinion.

@mega
Yeah but thats the problem, Silence basically never shuts down even a round now. For either screamer removing it entriely for one M which is sort of fine giving you use your handslot/weapon slot for it and a good chunk of HP, or herons feather existance, or silent prayer or...Throatopener, honestly just cause no one uses it, doesn´t mean it doesn´t exist it´s just three M, meaning you still can use your charge minded spell that turn unless invocation.
Now it only has a chance to silence someone if you happen to be faster (which won´t be the case when they are windmages), and even this one turn silence would only be useful for Teamfights to allow your teammate to do something. Cause you will be busy reapplying it with your full turn (25FP per use which is actually a lot for the usual Kenseis that have around 160 normally), if the mage isn´t standing there like a deer watching the approaching car and just moves, still having 3 M for something else.
Thats litterally how fights go and thats not fun. So basically you can just not use a silence and save the annoying back and forth. Al

In my experience its about only 50% of mages who are running heron feather simply because they don't want to be silence locked, being silence locked sucks ass and when physical attacks can be just as potent or even more potent than magic attacks (hello swift crystal rose) I see no reason for people to not be able to build to counter silence locking, maybe if Silence wasn't akin to being gutted entirely as a mage I'd see it some other way.

But if silence stays as it is now, locking out an entire skill set, let the wind mages have their moment in the sun and just balance out the outliers that make them powerful(Vydel's range for example) instead of throwing away the one tool mages have to counter absolute fear.

Heaven forbid Kensei have some way to be counterplayed other than crit evade right now.

Swift attacks is a whole other can of worms that honestly needs to be changed. It´s stupidly strong like already discussed in the other topic but apparnlty the answer for that was removing +5 stats from DK....That litterally didn´t change anything. I still believe the long run fix for that would be changing the damage formula.

There is no reason why Autohits like this should be so much stronger than everything else in the game, I fully agree on that. Basic attacks are sorta fine cause they actually can be fully evaded and don´t get a multi on a multi by dafault like most swiftauto attacks that scale over 100% SWA.

Being comeplety shut down does suck ass, yes.
How about this. Instead of Heron feather flat out reducing the silence duration by one by default it grants a skill that reduces you silence duration by 1 or even cures. That way it still kinda does that, but the person in question is using some M in return?

I still don't see the issue with Heron feather, kensei are just going to learn how to deal with not being able to silence lock every mage, and maintain distance carefully like ye olde, like Chaos brought up, Sayakana/Stat Accessories/High mage cape are still all very potent choices, thus not every mage is going to have a heron feather as a result.

And you keep ignoriing the fact that it´s not only Kensei silence thats completly shut down, nor the fact that there are like 3 valid and easy accesable silence counters that atleast have some sort of counterplay. Aka, heron feather is exactly what you say sucks for mages. It completly shuts down counterplay. for only an accesory slot.

Ghost, Nightflower users, black bubble and that one boxer punch that caused silence are all equally effected. Not only AF from Kensei. black bubble when used on hexer atleast has the curse to help.

Also you got it backwards. A melee shouldn´t be the one to kite. The damage dealer mage should be the one who needs to think about kiting, if anything...Cause you know, they kinda have the range for that.

This assumes we are talking about every mage, while you might be right that a wind mage can have long range, they only have long range with their invocation, Vydel, anything else typically has lower range and can even be limited only to lines, on top of this there are other focuses like Earth that have much shorter ranges but are equally (if not more) impacted by silence, on top of this Melees, especially sword builds have much more insane mobility options compared to mages, being able to move with their skills more often than not, they are much more efficient at kiting than a mage could ever hope to be without something like Explosion pushing you back which can be negated by Spiked Treads.

Death Gaze has needed to be buffed for a while, Nightflower is an auto silence with a static chance (I think 100% on crit), Black Bubble has 3 duration at rank 5+ so it isn't as bad as the other silences, Sturm Shreik also provides good damage but has a status check, it could deserve the same treatment as black bubble and be 3 duration at max rank.

Earth, fire, lightning all have huge range actually. Ice is a bit short on range and a bit linear but the rest is pretty decent range wise even ice range isn´t bad.
Like explosion, Isenshi, 7 range snipe rye and even isendo has a decently long and 3 tile wide range. Sear is also not bad, so is air preassure So mages have actually pretty good Range. Even more so evokers. You do not really want to get close to a earth mage as a melee. That really hurts and he is laughing at your attacks kinda. Silence is litterally the only way to fight that for a physical melee.
But I do not disagree that many melees have a fucking high mobility aswell, I was more talking in how things should be and the idea of melees having to kite mages is a bit silly and backwards.

Nightflower is 1 turn, on a small chance and I think critical did only double the chance, I am like 75% sure it wasn´t 100% on crit last time I used it. So nightflower was already pretty limited before with you needing to be faster AND having the luck to land the effect.

Death gaze does indeed need a buff for ages, but it´s technically in the same tier of skill as Absolute fear.

Sturm shriek could need a duration buff thanks for being staus infliction aswell. But thats basically what I am asking for all other silences to be aswell cause thats fairer.

Black bubble was my bad, I had 2 duration in mind.
