Crashed mid-battle trying to examine somebody's weapon, and by the time I reconnected my turn had come around and an ally had taken control. They chose to skip my turn.
This didn't help! Instead, when it came time for my animal companion and my character's turns, I had absolutely no control over either (no menuing at ALL), and had to wait the full ~ten minutes for both stare blanklys to proc.
After the battle had ended, I also wasn't able to move at all until I'd relogged again.
This also seems to cause, after returning mid-battle:
- Gauge text in the party hp/fp bars to stop rendering
- LFG tab doesn't show up
It's worth noting that this is virtually identical behavior to every other time the bug shows up. The only different circumstances are the skip and the kind of disconnection.

I've had this happen before and kill an alraune rematch. In that case I dc'd due to the server freezing like a minute
Edit: From what I remember, when it happened the combat menu didn't show up at all for me even when it was my turn.

This still happens. If you crash or disconnect mid-combat (at least in PvP), you will most of the time be unable to interact with any of the UI elements upon relogging. So, for example, you cannot choose abilities, to move, to attack, or use any hotkeys that would normally do those things.
You have to have someone else total control you until the end of the fight.
Reproduction steps are inconsistent, but it seems to just happen more often than not upon reconnecting to the client mid-fight. At least, in my anecdotal experience.

I believe (though cannot confirm) this is an issue occurring within parties, possibly due to the total control feature for logged out players. I notice that I could not replicate this in a PvP 1v1 vs myself in the Test Server (reconnecting always allowed me to continue controlling my corresponding characters), but when I party them together and relog the issue manifests.
I don't know what kind of debug commands would help with testing this, but here's an updated attempt at replication steps:
1. Log on with two characters at once.
2. Party these characters, and get into a battle.
3. Once the battle has begun, log out on one of the characters (I chose the non-party leader to log out).
4. Note that the Party Leader gains total control of the disconnected player.
5. Log back in on the disconnected client.
6. Note that no UI element interactions work, and the character cannot be controlled by their player.
One very odd circumstance I noticed when testing this on the Test Server is that the disconnected player who later reconnects could change the direction the player character was facing with WASD inputs (even when it wasn't their turn), though every input only ever made that character face to the left. I'm shooting blind, so no idea if this is related.
Toggling WASD mode on the reconnecting player did not appear to help in any impactful way.
