The game allows you to use the Massage option on Youkai without the corresponding trait.


Demonstration that the trait hasn't been taken. Such can be confirmed by the presence of racial traits such as Life Drain, Arcane Relocation, Soul Rage, and Soul Generator.

Its behavior without the trait is that the amount of EXP gained is 10, and does not change based on your SKI nor the amount they need to level up.
As for friendship gains, it's a random number between 5-10, though that seems to be the default behavior regardless of the trait being taken.
