I know Rany's post about fear probably isn't done, but I'm starting to see a trend among the same lines of Soapy's Combating Creativity post. Now, I don't have a lot to say, so I'll get right to the point.
That isn't a cat.
If this eldrich abombination looks like a cat, I think someone needs glasses.
I think everyone just looks at your icon, and assumes it's specifically the same race as the icon. I feel as if I need to remind everyone I try to pet-rp with that there's not going to be a specific icon for literally every animal and creature. You'll need to be a bit flexible with your icons. In this instance, a cat icon fit my creature the best, so I gave it the icon. It is not even close to a cat ICly, and is more like a sloth. I've had the same issue before, where I had to use the cat icon so I could have a lizard as a pet. She got called a cat at least 5 times ICly, even after I told that person she was, in fact, a lizard.
TL;DR:
Read pet descriptions. They are important, too.

That, or pets having a face icon. With '(Pet)' in their names?

This is actually something I wanted, but I was waiting to suggest it until the base class buffing/fixing/nerfing was fixed and most of the 10* were done. I mean, it's kinda just a small thing anyways.

I didn't want to be "that guy" but no one else was stepping up to say it. It's been over a week, so I guess it's gotta be me.
Maybe having an eldridtch abomination as a pet isn't the best idea. Just saying. I mean, it just sort of seems needlessly edgy - and this is coming from someone regularly accused of being edgy because shit happens and life isn't always sunshine and rainbows. (Also, does the naming rule apply to pets? Because Yog-Sothoth is... well... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yog-Sothoth yeeeeeah.)
Just saying. While I agree that many players pig-headedly ignore everything (Example: RPing a Gun as a monk's Ki blasts, and people ICly asking about your guns *fucking facepalm deluxe*) and I agree with your points, I did just need to address that.

Let me tell you that I know exactly what you mean. The sloth pet was actually just the example I had at the time, and as I stated in the semi-closing paragraph this has happened before. If your pet's icon is one thing, people will automatically address it as such.
Just to address the naming, I actually asked Sly after "OOC Slydria: I think that just begs the question why do you have a pet eldritch abomination named Yog-Sothoth..." because I like to make sure that I have no rule-breaking stuff.
(Hopefully Sly won't mind me using this.)
Sly only said it bugged him, not that it was against the rules. If it was, I'm sure he would've brought it to my attention! People name their pets after fictional characters all the time, at least in my experience they have, and nobody's to say that book series wouldn't have existed in SL2 in some form, perhaps under a different name and slightly different author, as many things in game are.. I had a dog named "Link" once, as an example. Pet name-changing is such little hassle as well, and you may have noticed that I haven't been on that character /w that pet in general, so the previous name of the pet is an invalid argument at this point, too.
I appreciate the chill reply, though, Rany. I expected a lot worse.

Okay, I probably should have been a little less casual about that. Yeah, I actually did want you to change the name. I just kinda assumed when you said "I could change it" meant that you would change it.

I will the next time I get on the character, will-do. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer by a long shot so I take most everything said to me at face value.
Er, my original point for the topic still stands.

Fair enough, thanks for the explanation. Also,

Back at you. I was actually nervous to click on the thread when I saw you replied. Glad no harm was done. *thumbs up*
