When you stalemate, it doesn't trigger on attack effects such as fang faced shield, volcanic seed and armor of nails.

That's more because parries don't actually hit you. I don't know if this'll be changing (because there might be another parry skill coming) but I can update skill descriptions to clarify.

The issue actually ended up being that the effects weren't triggering for attacks that did 0 damage, such as parries. This has been changed.
