Make all messages have a "distance" associated to them, allowing you to use a toggle to filter out non-loud (shout/lemote) messages that are sent from further than x amount of tiles. Useful for being able to keep track of a local conversation during an event such as a festival

Am I misunderstanding this?
Doesn't this feature already exist for new chat?

It does already exist, you can set a range at which you hear messages in the settings of new chat.

My god, it does... That's amazing! Does shouting and loud emote pierce through it?

Dunno about shouting and lemote, but the key words you set that make the window flash do.

Something that i think would be cool is if the say send distance/reception was adjusted dynamically with the number of people in a space. The idea being its harder to hear people in a crowded room.
For instance when you're just with 4 people you can hear a person's say at like 15 tiles away, but if if 10 people are within a 10 tile radius of you that range drops to only 5 tiles or something.
This like anything should be set on and off preferably with ratios adjustable by the player.
A common complaint is the large crowds are overwhelming. Having a dynamic system like this would allow an easily overwhelmed person to more easily operate in group settings without having to consciously manage their say distance.
