I noticed that when I tried to guild interview other RPer's in a closed environment (two layers of opaque walls, to be exact..), the 'emote' verb would pierce through opaque walls somewhat and other people could see the text; yet, the 'shout' verb cannot pierce through opaque walls at all.
Perhaps a switch can be done?

This has been brought up -so- many times, and each time, it's been shot down.
But really. It would be great if Shout went through walls, and we got a new Emote verb, called AEmote (or maybe Amote for kicks), short for Audible Emote, which would be able to be seen through walls and other opaque turf.

I would have no problem with this change if GMs had some way to look into private areas and make sure no one was ERPing on SL2.

Tbh. If people be ERPing in a house, how the fuck GMs gonna know they ERPing unless one of the people rat the other out? You just gonna be like "Oh let's check this house to make sure these people aint fuckin". Yes, ERP is a problem, should everyone suffer with emotes going through walls and allowing metagame because some people decided to efuk?
No, not really.

The only counter-argument I can provide is that emoting can include people speaking. There's plenty of times people emote an action, while speaking in said emote. So anyone 'eavesdropping' through a wall would miss certain portions of a conversation because of that. It's a very minor counter-argument and I could also counter myself by saying 'eavesdropping' involves listening from far away so missing bits and pieces makes sense. Anyway, I'm not for or against it, just putting that in. However...

^You do know that there's no way the administrators/GMs don't have a system to look at logs of everything everyone says anywhere, right? They don't have to stand in the room with you. They'll know.

I am 95% certain admin's do not have logs. In fact, I am pretty sure that that was shot down because of Ryu being a GM.

There's also the fact that Sly and Chaos will ask for logs of events that just happened/are currently happening. And we don't see a lot of bans saying ERP, so it's honestly a reasonable assumption that they can't do that.

As long as it see-through walls aren't affected or goodbye nice-looking Chimera Enterprises stalls.
Or anyone who uses them for any type of desk.
(most ERP bans have been from people in the Artist's Auberge's rooms anyway)

If people are fucking, they'll fuck. Wanna know why? Because they don't give a shit about BYOND rules. You give people the ability to RP whatsoever and some bad apples will smut. You literally tell people to go to skype to do it. Why? So the younger audience players aren't forced to see it ((also byond rules but still)). Know what solves this problem on both? Just putting up god damn opaque wall emote blockers. It will stop people that have not consented to seeing the act, from seeing it. In it's entirety.
Sure, admins won't be able to do anything about it but. Uh. They can't do anything about it now because no one reports it. Because no one sees it and reports it. Because literally like maybe 2-3 people do it on the game and they're careful as fuck about it.

I ask for logs from the accusing player(s) to make sure they're not making things up. If you -really- want to press it, there are, in fact, logs of what happens in-game that can be accessed if it's really needed.

'It's against the rules but no one reports it' does not justify the fact it's still BREAKING THE RULES. Why do you think updates have included counter-measures against alt-grinding and tweaking? I'm suggesting a simple matter of 'let the gms do their job while everyone else doesn't have to care about it'. How is it somehow unfeasible that both sides can be given something to remedy the issue without compromising one of the core Server Rules?
