I'm of the opinion that heavier equipment tends to be better in general due to having higher power/defense, material effects, Gigantic, parts, etc. This is, of course, disregarding setup-specific benefits (Two Hand, Arbalest, Indomitable, Gigantys, Fitting Form).

Additionally, in my experience, the only characters that can even come close to having any Battle Weight issues are either (non-fire) Mages or people trying to Two Hand/Arbalest/Black Knight/dual wield guns with no STR.

Also, traits are getting reworked at some point.
