They do actually register. But they will only work if you have none of the other not worthless type. Having both together makes neither work. Just having either of the types makes them work fine. At least in my experience with it. As an extra note that may or may not be related. I've had the worthless kind appear from a non lorywell source. I know this for a fact because I've never been there on the character I had the bug happen on.
