Same thing actually happens on Sigrogana mine raids, and the Black Beast mountain event. With the latter, it causes you to retain the progress of the event (If I finished phase 2 after the event already ended, then if I join the next mountain event when it pops up, then I'll instantly get sent to phase 3 instead of 1).
