I don't see why they need to be so young to be considered an innocent character, or even a child with a simple reason like that.

Why don't you try being a young character that isn't a child with the powers of a ghost and the void while remaining innocent and child-like first to see if you'll enjoy roleplaying this type of character first? You don't need our permission to do that if you do.
