I was at first: I thought it was an attune grudge bug, so I ran to the test server. Tested with attune grudge, then without. Then I swapped my race to human using the reset stone.
Attune grudge doubles the black spirit power as expected: 1.1x becomes 1.2x, but otherwise amalgama seemed to make no difference.
