Problem is, with how Korvara grinding works, the gold bars are essentially our main source of murai for the average player. This means the number one way to earn money is to constantly go back to the pawn shop... That sucks!
I believe that this is the point of the gold bars above the spatial cores, spatial cores came with a number of downsides when it came to encouraging people to do the content of the game such as just sitting on a stockpile of them in order to open on patch days in order to quickly collect as much equipment as possible very shortly, and since equipment doesn't commonly drop from chests like they do on G6, this could lead to a potential shortage of items across the playerbase until people decide they want to crack open their cores, I do realize that not everyone would do this, but it might ruin the fun part of major equipment patches as well.
Originally they were pretty good at getting people to stop back into town occasionally in order to occupy them more, I don't think that was ever the intention either mind you and it certainly doesn't do it quite as much anymore, but given how the continent of Korvara is structured, you should have enough inventory weight with the right talents to be able to cycle between the 40/60/80 dungeons and haul home some gold bars, and then make your way around the circuit even more still.
The environment of Korvara has fostered a different requirement for obtaining equipment than what G6 has, and I believe re-introducing spatial cores defeats the current purpose of the equipment drops. The whole continent is a donut, use that to your advantage, pawn shops are very often near the front of a town, except for Meiaquar naturally (but the bandit cave has you covered on that.)
I will however also comment that I don't think Gold Bars shouldn't be changed, they are a little too heavy atm and quite tedious to haul around, I think it'd be beneficial to either reduce the weight of them or to add a new talent in Pack Rat that lowers the total weight of heavy items (over 10 weight) by 50%, this would also be a good addition in my opinion.
