With the latest change to the stairs, you have to have at least two tiles free so you can walk up to the stairs while facing it before it lets you go through. This is made impossible by a wall thing.

Could I suggest undoing the stairs change? It's added a world of hassle to using stairs and getting stuck on a sealed floor every once in a while is much better than lining yourself up with the stairs every single floor.
