When using Reaper's Scythe, it applies the Dark Damage, however basic attacks, when connecting, do not apply this bonus.

It isn't an axe weapon, it just counts as one for skills that require an axe to be used. Whether or not this should be changed is up for debate, but it isn't a bug.
