Absolute Fearless

Heron Feather vs Absolute Fear = no silence

Can Absolute Fear get changed to 3 rounds of silence instead of 2 at maximum rank? The skill has a cooldown, it warrants being strong. The only problem with it was the spam and eventual lockdown of spellcasting.

PS = Hell, the 'no silence' is even being used ICly in roleplay. Pls nerf.

Skills have counters, and silence is much stronger than either fear or hesitation. I think this is fine as-is.

I think this is fine for the most part, it just encourages you to be faster than your opponent as they'll still be shoehorned into 1 round of silence, it gives counterplay to a silence without status check as well. (Also I have problems balancing a skill over 1 item, the 2 round cooldown was instated for the 2 round duration silence.)

Hrm. Fine. Fair points. Even though it's kind of BS to use a skill on a Shaitan who's faster than you and it have no results but you losing 3M.

But make a note that fighting wind mages is kind of butt, as a Kensei. And if anyone has any more points to add here about Absolute Fear, you may do so. The discussion's not only about the silence, but the whole skill itself.

Honestly, I don't see much reason to buff Absolute Fear. If anything, it's sometimes brought up the silence part should be nerfed to an infliction check, because mages keep getting forced to dig for Heron Feathers due to silence lockdown still being a thing with the cooldown.

I think it's fine as is, though. Kenseis tend to be faster than mages anyway- and when wind mages build for so much base CEL, they lose out on other stats.

Do they? Wind mages basically just need 5-6 stats. Cel, Will, Luc and the rest goes into Vit/Def/Res. It´s one of the most efficient mage classes with high mobility and huge range, together with the tank mages of Earth.

It´s not only Absolute fear that is getting nerfed into being unuseable for the most part.Nightflower gets completly negated even if you are faster and there are afew other silences that also pretty much completly countered by it just by being faster and otherwise you can kite someone basically to force him to use the whole fight Absolute Fear only(Cause if you move away as mage after being silenced the Kensei needs to move+Absolute fear. Repeat till Kensei runs out of FP). Silence is a strong effect, but herons feather is WAY to good. For an accescory slot atleast.

changing the auto silences to status inflictions and changing heron feather to increase the status res against it, might be better.
heck maybe add a talent for mages to resist silence only easier.

it would once again increase the stat spread a bit more to a reasonable amount for those wind mages, and make it probably more fair for both sides.
So I am against buffing Absolute Fear, but nerfing Herons feather and the general auto silences.

Wind mages want: WIL SKI CEL VIT DEF LUC, usually they lack on RES unless they want to get around that with sacrificing LUC, not only that but wind mages have to invest very heavily into each of their primary stats, CEL is generally scaled to 60+, as well as luc being 50+, WIL tends to also be high for weapon scaling.

They have their issues building stats, especially since Talvyd only grants 4 stat points and not 8

I don't see a nerf to Heron Feather being necessary and all I see it as is Kensei being stingey that they can't auto-lock mages who built to have some counterplay vs absolute fear.

Wind mages might want a bit of Ski but honestly? They can also screw that entirely, and rely a bit on sub effects like wind slasher. They can just go full dodgetank, they do a little less damage but thats entriely fine when they in turn get no damage themself. Plus points when you run Monk or Boxer as mainclass for even more dodge and damage reduction. But I guess both work, still max 6 stats. Even with Cel being heavily invested in, that still only means they can not really be hit by non autohits, autohits are reduced in their damage and thanks to Heron feather existance are immune to most silences in the game. And the last part is the issue.

Or mages not wanting any counters outside of MG and Hexer. Again. Kensei aren´t the only ones that can´t use a silence anymore.
There are ghosts with death gaze, nightflower users and I think Boxers aswell. not like silence didn´t have already the screamer, throatopeners or silentprayer cure.

Being immune to 75% of the silences we have for an accesory slot is a bit silly in my opinion.

Absolute fear is just kinda becoming absolutely useless as a skill, half of the time. We have talents to reduce the fear, hesitation it´s giving to a minimal amount and now the silence effect is also gone if you don´t happen to run Hexer with it? I can understand that AF needs a buff if this item stays like this, cause it became a worthless skill. This has noting to do with being stingy, but not wanting a situationally useful skill being suddenly overall useless. Or do you want to tell me that AF is a good skill now that you would run on your Kensei? (unless Hexer maybe, it´s useful in this specific combi I guess)

I'd be fine with buffing the duration of Infliction-check Silences.

I would not, however, buff the duration of Absolute Fear's silence. Nor is the skill 'useless' enough to warrant buffing a Silence that can be slapped on without a care for status resistance, unless you're telling me that somehow, everyone and their mothers runs the entire Bravery talent and everyone and their mothers would run Heron Feather over either a major stat-booster accessory, Sayakana, or any sort of Elemental Resistance booster.

I think that being able to potentially lock someone out of their skill set for even one turn is extremely strong, nevermind two or three. Considering how powerful Silence is, I'm not for giving it any kind of duration increase unless the effect is changed.
