I think a good deal of this could be fixed by adding higher quality chests to higher level dungeons.

Make bosses drop significantly more loot.

Make it so you can only fight one per level tier (20, 40, 60) every in game day.

The whole 'just go around fighting bosses for 4 real life hours' is probably the worst way to handle gameplay. It's not interesting, and it doesn't reward any behavior other than grind monkey mindset. The people who do it certainly aren't contributing anything interesting to a story.
