Are you sure about this? What if an action's occurring that anyone on the other side of the wall can somehow hear? What if the person being assaulted can't call for help because they're being gagged? There should probably be a new emote function if this gets implemented, because then it'd strip more sense than it already lacks.

Considering circumstances like this? I think emotes through walls are fine. I don't think it's a bug anyway.

Someone knocking furniture over that's away from the wall but can be heard through it seems more of an emote thing. Or gunshots, or other things that aren't near the wall but are loud enough to go through a non-sound proof wall.

I don't think this is something that is a bug and needs 'fixing'. People can use their common sense if you can 'hear' a specific emote through a wall or not.

Why not a player-option to make their emotes visible through walls?

Say and whisper don't need to be, shout should always be hearable through walls.
