Really. The only thing I have to say about this ability is that it's On Crit effect should stack with it's On Hit effect.
Critting, currently, with this ability just. Has a way-worse effect? Level 15 Weardown (Armor down) on Non-crit. 15 DoT (earth) on crit.
It's genuinely better to NOT crit with it because 15 armor down is just that strong.

Especially when you're playing a caster casting spells, which do magical damage. I can appreciate that the idea is perhaps that your animals will be doing the physical, but yeah. It should just do an extra effect, not replace it

I think the crit effect being worse is intended?
Just like Mortefiore is technically better if someone resists the infliction check, this is better if someone resists the crit evade check.
I would like for it to have both effects on it if I crit, I'm just bringing up why I think the crit effect is worse.

Mortefiore failing the infliction check just means the damage and resistance shred (which is an actual shred and not a pierce afaik) take longer to come out which is usually worse when compared to a miniscule amount of FP Drain that other builds would likely do better. Especially considering that status resistance comes from 2 stats that often invalidate FP drain builds to begin with.
I think a good way of separating the on-crit and on-hit effects of Geo of Crumbling would be to tie it to Predator and Prey, where having the passive gives you the Wear Down instead of the Lingering Damage, as builds with this passive are more likely to be basic attackers.

Geo of Crumbling is a really hard spell to justify keeping SP in beyond 'I'm a destiny curate with oodles of 3 pointers to spend my SP on' at this point tbh. It's usually a coinflip as to whether it behaves as a kind-of-ok earth AoE or the melee support I want it to be when I cast it, and I have NO crit investment on a zerotrain. Seriously, I'm at 60% sheet crit here. It'd be pretty much unusable for use against anything but cevade walls if I still used monk priest's, I think.
And I DO want to use it as support for basic attackers. I play with a lot of them, including the basic critter glued to my build that I get for existing as a mainclass druid. Armor shred is useful to me! But it's ultimately really disappointing to catch a crowd of enemies in it and see all crits, which feels wrong.
Also, the lingering damage is really low even without accounting for the effect disparity? It's like 45 earth damage TOTAL and I am NOT spiriting that.

Regarding the OP, I could easily see those two being swapped around.

That's right!
