Dense thunder as a skill has a little bit too much Ki cost to be worth it, can the mechanic of Dense thunder having half-ki cost when used at someone's side come back? Crane Hop does not become a huge issue for this anymore because crane hop is 2m

6 ki Dense thunder sounds good.

it seems more like an issue with monk, they need another way to get ki in battle, and that their ki should persist between battles.
serpent strikes could gain +3ki when hitting with a critical strike
and a passive that gives 1-3 ki when an attack misses them.

I believe the ways to gain Ki are fine enough for the most part, although I would be in-support of the OP; this is something I've been ranting about in the woodworks on-and-off since it was changed to a higher flat amount.
Dense Thunder could probably fare with keeping the same Ki Cost as it currently has and gaining the Situational it previously had that allowed half-cost procs of KD from the side (but only the sides, not the back).
