It does work, but I'm expanding it to work...or maybe work at half effectiveness if the weapons share a subtype, but not a weapon type.

I wouldn't mind it personally, but keep in mind this applies to more than just the fan dagger/tome combo, it also applies to mutated weaponry that feature subtypes.
