The issue with BW scaling with another stat is that...
- If it scales with Vit, at all, to represent the character's inherent hardiness, which would make thematic sense (and we already see this with out-of-battle encumberance) I'm afraid we'll only encourage Tanky, Str-less builds. For example... a single digit str Soldier sporting a Bamboo Bo since it needed skill to hit anyways, but also sporting a LOT of Vit/Def/Res since none of what it'd have allocated to str before is needed. Furthermore, base Vit is actually decently high on many races; it's plausible to get 60 scaled, and that translates to +15 BW if you're calculating it at 1/4 strength.
However, I do think you MIGHT be onto something with the Aptitude suggestion!
A better option might be, and hear me out on this, Apt/10 reduction to the weight of both the weapon and torso. (Edit: And maybe half of that to a minimum of 1 for accessories/Gloves/Boots?) For example, your average 42/43 scaled Aptitude would see -4 BW to both the weapon and Armor, to represent the character's general proficiency. So, a 12 weight tome would only weigh 8, a 7 weight armor would only weigh 3, and a 40 weight armor still weighs 36 because of course it's freaking bulky.
Also, regarding "Ranymoments," I'd like to clear the air (in a positive way, I promise) but I'm putting it in a spoiler tag to keep the main focus on the actual topic at hand.
