Just to note, this isn't about certain features being useful, or good for combat, or even practical, I'm certain.
There's no good reason a Mech maker couldn't stick some purely aesthetic animal parts onto their dolls. And even if the icon parts aren't available, people could/would just RP their robotpeople having those parts. And then get metagamed, because people suck.
This is why Mechs should have access to all racial parts.
(Hell, you could make the point to say that everyone should have access to all racial parts because Sigroganaland is a place where everyone is a master craftsman of some sort and forging a pair of realistic horns can't be any harder than making artificial life. But hey. One long, derailed step at a time.)
