I would say this should be something available not just when idle. Thus allowing people to have a quick sentence show up on hover like the "idle" text.

For instance if you're in the process of dancing in the street, and people walk up, it's annoying to post "yeah btw I am dancing" posts. Instead you can have that show up on hover. Ideally with a little bubble and text that shows in the world so it's more clear and cool
