In my total lack of shame I have begun to position myself directly facing blocking terrain so as to only expose my less vulnerable flank to melee opponents, given that the hit bonus from chivalry is now better then flanking in many situations.

I may not have the hard numbers or a specific suggestion to fix it. I'd just like to point out that this is kind of absurd behavior to be rewarded for.

I'm gonna bump this.

I've seen the rhetoric that like, avoiding the frontal facing defenses is the big thing. But... the only thing you really evade frontal facing defenses on is duelist evades, which are by far the minority.

(And even then if its daggers its just avoiding riposte).

Most evade defensive sources can hit from the back too, with the common ones being false target and ring of pearls as obvious solutions. This is NOT a major thing.

The numbers on this are abysmal now.

I can agree there. In scenarios where it'd be good to avoid the front on an evade tend to be stuff like duelist with riposte. The vast majority of people who can maul your face off/get more dr from the front in the first place aren't evade. (And now I get jump scared by a BK dodge player or sm shit)

The state of "I dodge better by turning away from you" is painful. Even if I don't like evade.

edit: Oh and, the case of: Ignoring defensive options doesn't matter if you cant hit them in the first place.

Or something along those lines, perhaps having successfully evading gradually lower your evade until you're hit? Could call it 'Attrition', any miss or glance lowers your evade by 5, stacking. The moment a hit check succeeds, you lose all stacks of it.
.
While I do personally like this idea, I would prefer if it were a PvP exclusive mechanic because I feel like it'd be kind of frustrating to have to basically speedrun every boss fight before they just break you down with attrition alone.
