I noticed that any time a skill slot formula is mentioned, it's filled with some back and forth bias. But I want to pay attention to the actual skill type itself. For instance, passive skills do not require active usage, but they function on a situational basis. Wasting a slot on riposte versus ranged/magic, void veil versus physical, etcetera. And I did notice that some VERY beneficial passives offer a 'does not take up slot' rank (see: Stand Off), but mostly less beneficial passives (see: Stealth Traps). Anyway, this suggestion is for existing and future passive skills that will not be offered the aforementioned addition. All of those green-coated passives should take up .5 skill slots, as opposed to 1 skill slot.

Please. That would solve so many issues for so many types of characters.

Seeing as most non-magic classes have a plethora of Passives, this would boost them while not at all hindering, but maybe even helping, mages, so I like this.

I prefer the way it functions now.

Any particular reason why?
Some passives for classes are borderline essential for them to function (see: voidveil, fleur, riposte) or are too good to -not- take (stalemate, chimera style, deadly arms, endurance).
So it'd make sense that they may be cheaper SP wise.

And that means we should make them free/reduced in the skill slot why? Are we going to do that for all good skills? Should Charge Mind be free to equip for Evoker because it's their big move?
Probably not.

Evoker skills don't require Charge Mind.
Half/A good chunk of VA skills require Void Veil which.. lookie there, is a passive. Just certain skills for certain classes shouldn't take a slot. Kip Up is one of the most ridiculous innates in the game and it's just that. An innate.

Only a few VA skills require Void Energy, though you get more benefits for some of the ones that don't by having it. Still not seeing any reasoning why passives should be 'free-er', just that some are better than others, and they aren't active skills (which somehow means they shouldn't take up an SP slot). Charge Mind is as much a 'required' skill for Evoker as Voidveil is for VAs. It's their core class mechanic. Sorry, but I don't think this is a good change.

Void Veil is a passive. Charge Mind isn't. If you wear any armor but cloth, you can't make use of the passive. Charge Mind isn't a situational passive.

This feels like an Evoker vs VA debate. And as the system stands now and proves to likely remain, a magic-based character such as an evoker will always have more skill slots. Disregarding that, most of an Evoker's 'passive' skills are innates, and their Highwrath and Pure Power passives would also benefit.
