Character Name – Nyxosa
Request Type - Ability Request / Lore Confirmation
Request Details - This gets a bit complicated, especially with how much youkai stuff has been altered/affirmed in the gist of D2 launch here. I would like for my character to be able to embody in essence, a greater aspect of a pseudo ascended Firefox Youkai within her. The majority of mean doing such however, is by using things that already exist in game as items or abilities.
Reason why you are making this request (if applicable) – Nyx as a character has existed for three irl years now, near the launch of Korvara here, and so much has changed in general since my first time making an application. After talking with Iggy the night prior, I decided to make my attempt for my greater ambition for this character's growth, especially as her own mysterious past involving the shrines leads her current story towards that of Yokoshura and the mysteries of her extended shapeshifting as a whole.
Specific Request –
So specifically, what I’m requesting are the few things below, nothing that should ever take part in actual battles (apart from using items that do such effects like cinders from passive install).
Boons
- Heightened Emotions = Her steps leaving cinders behind (Youkai install passive)
- Calling on Evocations or Using Focus from her Youkai = Her Hair begin to give a faint cyan glow like that of a flame (Flavour/RP/Custom Color Torch my beloved)
- Madness Mantra Triggers = Her eyes beginning to emit a faint red glow, similar to the eyes of a firefox, but much fainter in Pseudo-Possession (Flavour/RP)
- Her fire magic from a flavor perspective taking on more of a Pinkish Red tone, mirroring that of Seeker Flames (Flavour/RP)
- Essentially treated from a rp point as installed (Not mechanically of course, none of this should be overall mechanical~)
In turn of course
Costs
- Anti-Youkai/Possession weapons/Magic tends to be more effective against her (Achieved through Drowned woman passive and spirits as is~)
- While more sensitive to spirits as is, her likelihood of being tempted by them is also more likely through twisted kinship. (Flavour/RP/Spiritual Sensitivity Trait)
- Still pays the same costs for maintaining longer Shapeshifting as in her previous application, though the Firefox form would certainly be the easiest for her to maintain~ Everything must have a cost after all~ (https://neus-projects.net/forums/showthr...p?tid=9651)
- A Increased penchant for wanting to cause Mischief/tricks as all foxes desire~

Roleplay – Nyx is a character that has built up a renown for being The Firefox Shifter, going so far as every one of her youkai, all Twenty Two (Legacy Summoner Privilege) of them are each even individually named with their own personalities I've built for them even. The girl has been shapeshifting since the very start of her creation when I first made the painful mistake of destiny summoner right at the start. Time and time again she has been always conversing with firefoxes in particular, her pet summon even being one I've used many times for Roleplay purposes, or even using her shifts into one for other general RP scenes. It's well enough now that you could go to either Duyuei or Yokoshura and if you asked about that firefox girl, one would almost always point towards Nyx.
Then there is also her behaviors. She certainly has her moments of wisdom, but so many years of shapeshifting have left focal tones, moods even that she reflects. Whether it would be her attempted pranks, such as pushing a sleeping Hanzo into the Yokoshura pond. Using her wink with a Lilu aspect to have Balmus wear a maid dress to a Duyuei Hearth, her very character screams to the idea of a trickster fox. More and more times where as she's gone on, her personality has been getting harder and harder to separate from the very firefoxes she was raised with. Her very hair even now has been a more permanent vibrant cyan for the past irl year~
Her journey even now in Yokoshura has been one of cultivation even, having gained a tail from such as she's been learning more and more of the people, and understanding new depths to the youkai. An example being such as her fight with the Ascended Seiryuu from the Omura Dragonhead (Evil Granny). She's been using such experience to tap further into the strength of her family/friends (How she views her foxes) and been making IC use of it from the recent additions of Demon Translation as her last resort, flavoring it more as a Youkai Translation of power with how Shapeshifter boosts its duration.
Lore – The lore to help support Nyx's story in embodying a greater aspect of the Firefox Youkai I believe can fit naturally within the lore, thanks to her longstanding bond with these fox spirits. Being The Fox Shifter isn't just a reputation at this point, it’s an identity she’s built these years, with these connections with her twenty-two named youkai contracts and years of shapeshifting, changing, splitting, melding, and merging forms with these creatures again, and again, and again.
The idea of youkai ascending themselves even helps to support this Redtail bit of her own tail growth as she’s grown new tails since we’ve launched. Each one unlocking after something has changed in her grown, her relations, her experiences, almost like she is evolving herself. Nyx’s upbringing among firefoxes at the volcano, her mischief and wisdom, and her ongoing learning at the shrines in Yokoshura, along with her time as Thyrja of Duyuei in all her learning, all contribute to her spiritual aspects. It’s because of how similar it is to a Youkai’s own growth, that I’m hoping by granting Nyxosa this greater aspect honors her legacy, development, and the blurred boundary between shifter and redtail she’s cultivated through the years of her adventures, her boons, and her woes/issues she has faced.
In no way does this make her not mortal, far from it or anything of the like, she will still live, bleed, eat, sleep, age, etc, and eventually die. Though the way she will die will likely be as similar a fate, to another soul that once had been back in Lispool. In a twisted sense, embraced by the family she desires, despite the possession that this mirrors.
