Personally, I think a verb to toggle overlay so you don't need to drag up the preferences window may be preferable.

And this is coming from someone who loves the overlay for RP purposes but is pissed off at unequipping them all the time for RP when the overlay is not needed, and then getting into a fight after forgetting to re-equip.

Explaining how my character is on fire every time they hold a narcus gets confusing. Make it toggleable, the swords aren't really amazing enough to warrant the hint that you're using one against your opponent.

These are now battle-only overlays. I didn't want to add a straight toggle because some of them are pretty important for clarity's sake.
