Obviously, you can't sit on the Throne seat that you can craft via the Church Expansion.

  The Hole Problem

Party members who are not leaders can dig holes. This allows the party leader to drag them into buildings, where they will finish digging the hole, leaving a mark on/in the ground.

  SL2 Version 1.19
Posted by: Neus - 04-01-2015, 02:38 AM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

[float=left][Image: talkav_96.png][/float]

Here we are, episode 1.19 on this long-standing show. What do we have this week?

Just read the patch notes.

1.19
Attack Forecast Improvements - The attack forecast has been improved in several ways.

  • Rather than showing up in the text box, the attack forecast will appear over the enemy (or enemies, if multiple targets).
  • Only you will see the attack forecast, as it currently functions. You will also see your weapon's icon next to the expected damage/hit/critical.
  • Click the spoiler below to see a screenshot of it in action.
Iahsus Mood Tracker - laplaceNET now has a section dedicated to showing you what Iahsus' current mood is.
  • The layout of laplaceNET has received some visual changes as well.
  • Click the spoiler below to see a screenshot of the changes. (Note that the Iahsus icon will 'glow' in-game.)
New Dungeon Title - A new dungeon title has been added; Accel.
  • Accel is a new battle style, similar to Stylish.
  • In an Accel Battle, your turn comes based on your CEL, and everyone takes their turns independently of each other.
  • This means that monsters can move while you are deciding which skill to use, or even attack you.
  • Rounds will 'trigger' every 5 seconds; so a 3 duration skill will last about 15 seconds.
  • Click the spoiler below to see a screenshot of an Accel battle. (Although it doesn't capture what it's like to be in one very well!)
Church DISCer Expansion & Housing Improvements - Added a new DISCer expansion and some functionality to use with it.
  • Added the Church DISCer expansion, featuring tiles from the Mercalan Church in Lispool.
  • Contains about 43 tiles and a handful of new furniture craftables, including one that doesn't require an expansion.
  • Tiles can be inserted as overlays on an existing tile by using Shift+Click.
  • Tiles can be inserted as underlays on an existing tile by using Ctrl+Click.
  • Note that the above effect is purely visual, and the original tile will retain its density/opaqueness.
  • To see a preview screenshot, click the spoiler!
New Crafting Skill - A new crafting skill has been added; Tool Creation. You can use this to... create... tools... Can be accessed at anvils and alchemy tables for convenience.
  • Moved Woodcutting Axes to Tool Creation.
  • Added 12 new items, including 4 types of Shovels and 8 types of traps.
  • Now take a look at this! If you want to see a preview.
Black Beasts - The Black Beasts refuse to let up and have set their sights on a different coast this time, beginning their assault on Tannis. Just where are these things coming from?..
  • Black Beasts will now attack Tannis sometimes in addition to Dormeho.
  • Black Beasts that spawn during the raids on towns now have a chance to drop new items called Black Books. The chance to drop these items is higher for high level Black Beasts.
  • Please send help to the location below immediately!
Map-Like Things? - I don't know much about these, but I'm told by a trusted associate of the Asago Corporation that they can drop rarely from B.D.P. bosses that are level 30 or higher... What could the point of these be?
Adjusted - Cleaning battle damage caused by Black Beast attacks now costs 3 physical stamina, because it is exhausting.
Adjusted - Crystalize now imparts immunity to being re-rocked for the rest of the round after shattered by the effect of Crystal Blade.
Adjusted - Hirazuki has been adjusted so that it no longer checks if the line is 'valid'; it will instead check on a per-step basis and end if the next move is impossible.
Adjusted - Breezecloth now gives +5% Wind Resistance for non-torso items.
* Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where Ritual Sword was always using your main weapon for its attack, regardless of its type.
- Fixed a bug where Onyx youkai gifts had the wrong icon and name.
- Fixed a bug where you could open up the traits menu in battle.
- Fixed a bug where the battle weight reduction from the Blade Mastery talent wasn't applying to dagger weapons.
- Fixed a bug where Spectre Sword's special enchantment was applying on hit even if it wasn't the thing hitting.
- Fixed a bug where Narcus's bonus damage could be applied by non-Narcus weapons.
- Fixed a bug where the White Bishop Statue furniture item had the wrong name.
- Fixed a bug where houses would not unload while empty.

The crafting menu shows the 'White Bishop Statue' furniture item as 'White Knight Statue'. You can still craft the bishop, the name is just wrong.

  Idiotic youkai suggestion
Posted by: Reikou - 03-31-2015, 09:45 AM - Forum: Suggestions - No Replies

Right now, since his invoke skill scales off the Summoner's level, there isn't much of a reason to bother training a Firefox ( Or even having one, besides that nice fire absorb ), so I've been thinking, how about making the max number of Seeker Flames one can control based on the youkai's level, while still keeping the amount of flames summoned to 1 per skill use?

Or increasing the duration of the cinder tiles created by this youkai's passive by 1 per 10~20 levels, since they only deal 5 damage anyways. ( And giving it a toggle, since having fire and snow fall at the same time causes the user to leave cinder/snow tiles in a chess-like pattern, which is most likely intentional, but still. )

On a side note, Legumes give the user a rather powerful ( even more so on PvE ) AoE hp leech skill from the get go, without even having to train the youkai, so I suggest making it so synthesis also scale off the Youkai's level instead of the summoner's.

Spirit Mirror killing more than just your spirit.
Posted by: THE Xecron - 03-30-2015, 11:33 PM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (13)

So as the name suggests, the topic is Spirit Mirrors. I have noticed more recently that the fact they reflect the damage of guns for full damage leaves gunners at a major disadvantage for the following reasons:

Once players know you are a gunner, they abuse this item hard. If they rely on CEL and you need to overcharge just to get a hit on them, this increases the chance of you criting yourself when you hit their mirror and thus dealing more damage to yourself.

Shotgun users, in particular, get the worst of this because in order to get past the mirror, they need to basically shoot themselves for huge amounts of damage. This uses 3 momentum and gives your opponent the reduction they need to finish you off, assuming they can hit you. Which is just an autohitter's best friend.

The only real way around this is through using a handgun. But why should you have to rely on using a specific gun or using Magic (such as Ryemi) to destroy a mirror?

Which is why I propose that Spirit Mirrors should do one of two things.

1. deal 50% damage to you rather than the full 100%
2. Have a percentage chance based on their opponent's Luc to reflect somewhere else and either not hit, or not redirect the attack for full damage (based on their LUC or possibly, CEL, although it seems more logical to be LUC)

  Spectre Sword/Narcus Effects
Posted by: Trexmaster - 03-30-2015, 10:58 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

When you have either a Spectre Sword or a Narcus equipped, its effect will activate no matter what weapon you're actually attacking with.

For example if you off-hand a spectre sword, then attack with whatever your main weapon is, it will fear on hit.

An Introduction to insanity- Diary of a corrupted man

An introduction to insanity- Prelude

The age of gods have passed, and the age of the races themselves have risen. In this day and age, most races are imbued with the blessings of their patron gods. But in this sense, we must say that there is one exception. Humanity.

Perhaps it is the sense that humanity itself is doomed to set the world on a collision course, or perhaps there simply lacks a patron god or goddess; the reasons we do not know. But in the end, we must all realize that loneliness is a precursor to insanity.

I just lost my father in the war. Is there nothing but blood, death, and misery in this world? Is there not even the least bit of hope in humanity to stop this down-spiral of hatred, despair, and death?

As I write, I venture deeper into the forest, whatever maybe in there holds unknown, but I trust that it holds the key to the madness we must call life.

What else must I say?

  PvE Improvement
Posted by: Trexmaster - 03-29-2015, 11:03 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (9)

PvE as it stands, even with the recent addition of monsters gaining certain class skills, is monotonous and tiresome. Yet it's necessary if you want to be effective in other aspects of the game.

There's two issues I'll be addressing:

1. Dungeons as they stand are fairly dull. Once you've been in one, you've seen them all. Some dungeon types/prefixes mix things up or make things extremely frustrating without offering any real reason to go to them over a similar dungeon without the aggrivating qualities (i.e. crypts, spacey). There was a suggestion in the past to add new prefixes, which addressed this issue somewhat. (link)

2. Grinding in general is tedious as a result of the aforementioned issue, though with the semi-recent addition of training day and the exp-table changes, it was made somewhat less time-consuming. For people who cannot clear mobs optimally (I will not list examples to avoid silly arguments over who can clear fastest or 'oh i can do this') it can still be frustrating to reach the level cap. Some stats are just objectively better for PvE in terms of clear-time, and if your character lacks them, you -will- take longer without asking friends for help who -do- have those stats.

Onto the first issue. Going off the previous thread made on the topic, having dungeon prefixes be more varied, or simply give different rewards based on difficulty would be a start. Making dungeons somehow more difficult whether it be by giving monsters equipment/resists, or simply adding in some of the suggestions from that thread would be justified if said difficulty modifiers were followed up by making the rewards for clearing the dungeon, whether it be exp or items, greater than your average dungeon. Right now, the hardest dungeon you can get is simply more mobs on a larger map (or more mobs on a smaller map, depends on your build) and even then things aren't really any harder than having 3 or 2 mobs.

As mentioned in the thread regarding the Bands of x items, cores generally give very lackluster items, with a very slight chance to get what you actually want. The problem I see is that cores are pulling from literally every item in the game that meets its qualifications, thus narrowing in on what you want is impossible. A 0.12% chance to get an item while you're rolling for every single other item with that chance...odds are you'll never personally see that item. A suggestion to fix that would be allowing more core-crafting options, maybe make rarer items craftable but require cores? The recipes can be as insane as you'd want them to be, but it's better to have some kind of guarantee than potentially /never/ getting what you want. Another possibility is to make certain dungeons pull from certain tables of items, but, the point is there should be a way to better your odds beyond just getting more items.

-----

That's all I'll say on that for now, so, now for the second.

Grinding, is, as the term implies...grinding. It's to be expected to not receive instant gratification for it, but, after doing it over and over again, you have to wonder why there aren't any ways to make things go faster beyond 'nuke mobs more efficiently' which isn't an option everyone has. What I'd suggest is making ways to speed things up without necessarily making it so you have to clear the fights faster (although that will always be a quicker route, that's a topic for another day) which can be accessed by anyone. Something like increasing how many ranks you can buy of Deja Vu, so leing over and over will be slightly quicker. For people who don't plan to do more than a single run or two, adding in more 'green' items that boost experience is also valid, or any items really that'd effect exp gains. Or even a trait--the point is that the easiest way to make grinding faster, beyond overhauling pve, is to make exp gains easier and more abdunant. I'd also ask that, if these options were implemented, whatever the exp gain cap is should be lifted, or provide some way to lift it.

I don't have much more to say than 'add more exp modifiers' to fix grinding in general. How obtainable they are isn't too important as long as it's not overly excessive.

-----

TL;DR Dungeons need to vary more in difficulty and give greater rewards based on such, grinding needs to be less of a chore.

Blade Expertise isn't applying to Daggers, or at least not the Battle Weight reduction.
